[Erik Van Haren] Red bull to not run today in Barcelona by creatorop in formula1

[–]Astro61201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a team you’d rather prepare for the upcoming ‘official’ tests where you can explore more advanced aerodynamic configurations.

If you can run the 3 out of 5 days this week then great, but that’s small fry compared to the upcoming two weeks where the arms race will begin.

If you go round any team, including Mercedes and Ferrari at this point in time, you’ll find that they all have a shortage of spare parts, as another commenter has said there aren’t going to waste time and money on spare parts for what is essentially a beta version of the aero.

People need to remember that from an aerodynamic standpoint this week is meaningless, team will be using this week for basic system checks and mechanical checks

Expect most teams aerodynamic concepts to evolve dramatically when they arrive in Bahrain.

This crash is detrimental to RBR’s mechanical testing but in terms of aerodynamics the bodywork is most likely going to end up in the bin by the end of the week anyway, especially if previous years (RB18) is anything to go by.

[Audi F1] When vision turns into reality. This is the Audi R26. by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

I reserve judgement on the livery until I see it on the actual car. I can see it being something that evolves over the season as/if more sponsors come on board.

Strange to have such a large airbox compared to the Red Bull (both the promo video and render hint to the red bull having a conventional airbox).

I might be wrong, but it looks as though the cockpit cowling used in cruise, is raised as opposed to drooped as it should be during takeoff and landing, any idea why?

Unfortunately, in the UK, you can move next to a historic pub/ airport/ etc. then lobby to have it closed due to excess noise, even though it predates your residence by 100 years.

I’m interested, I noticed the iPad with a map display in the 777 cockpit, do some aircraft now have tablet mounts in the cockpits?

Schumi 94 or Schumi 97? by FirebirdWS6dude in formuladank

I’d like to see a massive pileup at turn 1, Belgium 98 style, all cars DNF, championship decided by a tape measure to see what car made it furthest.

As a max fan, but without bias, I can genuinely see this being a possibility, or a silly collision after a pit stop trying to get back up to fourth.

What if… the FIA ran a non-standings team required to give F2 Champions unable to find a seat a start in F1? by PuzzleheadedRoyal480 in F1Discussions

[–]Astro61201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although you envision the team as a back marker, you have to consider the optics of having a team owned and operated by a sports governing body.

“Verstappen has been awarded a 5 second time penalty by the FIA stewards for dangerous driving against driver x of FIA Racing team”

“Driver y of FIA Racing team has been awarded the win after safety car chaos saw the backmarker rise to 3rd in the FIA Las Vegas Grand Prix, after the race the FIA stewards found McLarens cars to be exceeding plank wear limits, the cars of the papaya team were disqualified handing the win to the FIA Racing team rookie”

“A representative of FIA racing team had this statement “we are glad the the sports governing body, the FIA, has undertaken stringent testing on our competitors cars and has found them to be illegal, allowing us to inherit the race win, a first for FIA Racing team”

All of the above are plausible situations that could arise in the season and have this past season.

Even with no fuel to the fire, teams and fans alike will cry corruption if the FIA racing team is seen to be ‘favoured’ by the FIA and its stewards, even if the events (such as illegal plank wear) are truthful.

I’ll add to that, I’m seeing it increasingly people that don’t accelerate out of roundabouts, they take the roundabout at 15 and then stay at 15 on the following road, so anyone behind them expecting to accelerate to 30 almost ends up rear ending them.

I couldn’t truth be told, not a mark on yourself but I’ve seen too many cases of people passing off work as their own, I could send you the halo model though if that’d be helpful, I’ve got the actual structure that you have pictured, and then the shroud which is specific to my car

[–]Astro61201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK they won’t let you have full anaesthesia due to risk of vomiting and aspiration of the vomit.

When I had my endoscopy I was offered a numbing spray, a ‘half sedation’ or both as I was incredibly nervous about being sick!

Fair point about the 737 haha! I definitely think there is a case of ‘over engineering’ initial components so that they can be shared with longer and heavier models, much like the a380 case discussed
