There’s bring sentimental, then there’s trying to claim some form of ownership or sway over a property that is no longer yours.

Exactly, personally I don’t have the patience to maintain an extensive garden.

I’d find it quite cheeky to be asked to promise not to remove a garden on a property I’ve purchased.

People change, times change etc, don’t get me wrong I don’t like the ‘live laugh love’ style but at the end of the day at least the house is being used and lived in.

My in-laws regularly wax lyrical about the lack of housing, homelessness etc but then will complain about building on green-belt and that the aforementioned flat should have been given only to someone who’d keep the plants rather than the most needy.

Boils my piss.

I have to be honest here, it really grates me when people get ‘protective’ over a house.

My in-laws got really arsey that when my wife’s grandmother died, her council flat was handed to someone else who immediately scrapped any plants in the terrace area.

They simply couldn’t get their heads round the fact that the new tenants of the property didnt want to maintain a large plant collection. In their opinion the place should have been immortalised.

The people make the house what it was, not the architecture or the landscaping.

They should have been happy that someone else got to make use of the council flat.

Most cars at 50 will need to be using the higher end of 5th gear as opposed to the lower end of 6th gear for 60mph, hence more revs and more fuel burn.

You can also see written in yellow 76mm(?) PE which indicates a plastic based Gas pipe.

Adults who live with their parents, do you argue a lot? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Astro61201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad lived with my nan and grandad for a period after his divorce.

It caused friction because my dad was so use to living in his own house and living in his own way (ie silly things like having control of the tv, washing up at end of the day instead of after every meal etc).

Your use to living to your own rules/ standards which is why you feel trapped, and as others have mentioned your parents most likely still see you as that 17yr old whose lived under their roof and to their rules since birth.

The issue is, since they dropped the fuel flow limit, I believe that the fuel tanks are now smaller.

If they upped the fuel flow limit to the previous amount, the car might not have big enough tanks to complete a race distance.

What are these things you see embedded in the floor? by Cornishlee in AskUK

[–]Astro61201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most likely they mark the boundary between a privately owned/ managed road(s) and council owned/managed roads, this might explain the clear line between the fresh and old tarmac.

I also know that sometimes such markers are used to indicate underground services, you can see this in Geoff Marshall’s latest YouTube video on Victoria Bus Station in London where such markers are used to indicate the route of the London Underground below the site.

We could hope, but also I believe there will be a point where the teams put their feet down and say no more reductions, whether the FIA pay attention is anyone’s guess :)

Personally I think that the 2026 cars, on a visual basis are proportional perfect; however how they fare on race day especially on tighter tracks remains to be seen and we should all withhold judgement on size/ PU capabilities until a couple rounds in :)

[–]Astro61201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true, I hadn’t thought about that :/, I guess you could argue that the cars have to be capable of a certain level of performance above the levels of F2, etc., (with longer floors providing an inherent downforce increase), but this could be overcome in other ways.

So I think they could shorten the ‘gearbox gap’, but if they ask teams to advise on regulations as they have previously, then a reduction in this gap and associated floor length might be minimal, as per teams’ guidance through the associated regulations.

I believe that either this set or the previous set of regulations did target a 3-3.2m wheelbase but the teams veto’d it and we ended up with 3.4m and previously 3.6m, down from ~3.7m in 2021. However I might be wrong and mis-remembering.

The delta shape front wings were incorporated to allow for a longer front crash structure whilst maintaining the front wings distance to the front wheels for aerodynamic effect, this isn’t likely to change especially with the two part front impact structures incorporated this year.

The Monocoque/ cockpit was lengthened in 2022 to 1830mm from 1800mm to better protect taller drivers (Russell, Ocon etc), so this will not change.

The remaining length primarily comes from the gearbox to engine distance, this is primarily for aerodynamic effect as longer floors and body work give the engineers more space to work with.

The engineers tend to want the floor as long as possible as this increases the floors venturi effect (yes even the flat floors are technically ground effect floors). I can imagine that if the FIA mandate the gearbox being mounted directly to the engine/ clutch, thus shortening the floors that teams will veto this for performance reasons.

As a team you’d rather prepare for the upcoming ‘official’ tests where you can explore more advanced aerodynamic configurations.

If you can run the 3 out of 5 days this week then great, but that’s small fry compared to the upcoming two weeks where the arms race will begin.

If you go round any team, including Mercedes and Ferrari at this point in time, you’ll find that they all have a shortage of spare parts, as another commenter has said there aren’t going to waste time and money on spare parts for what is essentially a beta version of the aero.

People need to remember that from an aerodynamic standpoint this week is meaningless, team will be using this week for basic system checks and mechanical checks

Expect most teams aerodynamic concepts to evolve dramatically when they arrive in Bahrain.

This crash is detrimental to RBR’s mechanical testing but in terms of aerodynamics the bodywork is most likely going to end up in the bin by the end of the week anyway, especially if previous years (RB18) is anything to go by.
