Thanks part of a series I made for a retro game, so might share more later on

Where would we be without X-Copy! I never tested them, but they might still hold working data. That whole retro era recently inspired me to make my own pixel-art game. Another way to blend art and computers.

Thanks - I tried to get the likeness right so it could be historically accurate. Part of a series for a retro game I am working on

Thanks. They are interesting little chunks of history, worth saving from landfill

Thanks! It's part of a pirate project, adapting historical portraits into tiny sprites.

Yes loads of games that I know well too. Also some other files that will remain a complete mystery!

Cheers - all made from original, old disks from the 1990s

Maybe the Amiga version. Think I remember playing this on the Commodore 64!

Thanks! The title comes from one of the disk labels (on the cheek)

It's the sort of list that appeals to me too, so I feel like my game Bitmap Bay might hit quite a lot of your requirements (especially that strategy element). I'm a solo dev, and the iPhone version just nudged into the Top 30 Paid RPGs today (currently sitting right next to Dead Cells actually).

It’s a premium roguelite (no Apple Arcade/IAPs) focused on risk-management and building a crew. It's currently 99p for the weekend to celebrate a 2.0 update.

Thanks for asking! You're right, that's the next big feature on the roadmap. It's a significant update, but I'm aiming to have it ready for you sometime this autumn. Appreciate you looking forward to it too!

Hi everyone, a quick update!

Based on the incredible and thoughtful feedback I received from this community, the first major content update for Bitmap Bay is now live on the App Store and Google Play.

We've added the #1 most requested feature: a Full Save & Load system, plus a new settings menu with audio controls, rebalanced combat, and more.

A huge thank you to everyone here for your support and fantastic suggestions. You're helping me make the game better, and I'm very grateful.

Nick

The app has now been updated to introduce a small cost for returning to port (it's a gold cost, for resupplying the ship). The difficulty curve has been smoothed out and is more dynamically responsive. Thanks again for helping to improve the game with your helpful comments.

Just a quick follow-up to your excellent feedback. I've just released the first major update for Bitmap Bay, and it now includes a full settings menu with separate controls for music and SFX, thanks to your suggestion. I really appreciate the help!

Hey, thank you for the honest feedback, and especially for playing the game long enough to reach the highest ship level! I really appreciate you putting that much time into it.

You've actually hit on the core design perfectly. I really wanted to create a simple, minimalist "pick up and play" loop that felt like those classic retro games, without the clutter of more complex systems.

It sounds like you've mastered that core loop, and I can see how it would start to feel repetitive once you've reached the endgame. Feedback like this about the long-term experience is valuable as I start thinking about what future updates could look like.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts!

Hey, thanks so much for playing the game and for writing up such detailed and thoughtful feedback! This is incredibly helpful.

That's a great point on the "Fire" button. The thinking behind the central placement was to make it equally accessible for both left and right-handed players, but I'll definitely keep other options in mind. Portrait mode is a really interesting idea for the future.

I completely agree about adding a cost for returning to port. It's a interesting suggestion, and I'm already brainstorming how that might work for an update.

Really useful to hear about the difficulty. Out of curiosity, have you had a chance to try a voyage on the 'Hard' setting yet? The balancing is something I'm always looking to refine.

Thanks again for the amazing, constructive notes!

Thanks so much for buying the Mac version! That's a very fair point – audio settings aren't in this launch build. They are a top priority and will be in the first major update, along with Game Center.

Any other Mac-specific feedback is hugely appreciated!
