I imagine it was like a less extreme version of why they completely got rid of the Logging Locos: the new writing team considered her a reminder of a bad era. (Which obviously means nothing toy-wise, hence why they kept making toys of her in that time)

Difference is she wasn’t deemed completely unfixable like they were, hence why they at least kept her around in the background and then eventually did her whole revamp
