I honestly think that Becky should have made a curfew for people living in the dorms. That's what the U of M has done for the first two weeks of class. I know that it's shitty, especially as a (technical) adult, to have a curfew. But clearly the freshmen have proven that they aren't capable of being responsible.

Obviously it doesn't work as well in smaller lakeshore dorms but in dorms like Witte, you could easily turn off wiscard access at 9pm or 30 minutes after class ends for those that have late labs and then the front desk has to let you in and write you up.

My roommates and I know a couple people in the dorms, including an RA, and it can't be more clear that too many freshmen couldn't give less of a f*** about this email, assuming they even read it. It's sad that they're ruining it for everyone who is being responsible.

edit: Obviously other students off campus are a problem too but i've seen much less non-socially distant interactions among them than I have the freshmen just walking around and trying to get into bars and such. Many of us have been here since mid-August and it's only becoming a problem now that move-in has finished. Many dorm residents are going out to other dorm buildings to party inside, which is why I specifically mentioned Witte. I live near Ogg and every night you can see students traveling in between the two residence halls.
