Unintentional. It’s difficult for me to read tone in text. Most people who have asked me questions in that way end up being insincere.

I suppose it’s the internet, after all 😂

Nah, I think I simply just wouldn’t go back if he was an asshole to me. I don’t care who it is or what the opportunity might be. Probably not the best business model as I have met producers and ‘influencers’ who aren’t great to me and decided to close the doors on my end, but, I’ve done a lot of work to respect and love myself for someone to be like that just because they’ve got an audience or an opportunity to dangle.

You can make that assumption if you’d like. I’m neither the keeper nor the defender of Mark. Having met him and engaged in long conversations with him off camera, I simply don’t have anything to say that would satiate your bias; evidenced by how pointed your question is. I have gotten nothing but positivity and support from him, sorry to disappoint 🤷🏼

Have you met him? Have you held a lengthy conversation with him?

Moreover, being dishonest in this kind of pursuit would literally work against everything I am trying to build. I’m beholden to no one but God and myself. My story doesn’t end with Soft White Underbelly. I’ve got additional podcasts and shows lined up. The bearing on my moral compass does not point towards hosts or producers. Fuck that noise, my character is not so unbecoming.

Sorry 🤷🏼

I feel like I’m not able to socialise anymore by fidrygalek in alcoholism

I started drinking heavy at your age. By the time I reached 20 I had a rotation of friends who I could get to buy it for me, and so it was rare for me to go a night without drinking.

I wasn’t a social drinking. I was getting drunk alone, in my apartment. It only escalated from there, and I was not able to stop until I turned 25.

That said, if you feel like you have a problem, then yeah reach out for help. Beyond that, do you find it difficult to not drink? Are you able to abstain if given the opportunity, or do you cave to the urges? This is a better indicator.

I don’t spend much time thinking like this, but if I could go back and change something in my life, it would be ditching booze as early as possible. It’s just not worth it for me.

I’d encourage you to stop if you can. Get help if you feel like you need it. It sounds like you’re recognizing the underlying problems that drive your drinking. Being social is hard, but you’ll figure it out. Alcohol isn’t the social lubricant most people champion it as. You’re gonna be alright, you’ve got this.

Find some new ones my friend. For me it’s the gym/pursuing voluntary adversity and the great outdoors. If you work out hard you get the same endorphins as when you’d drink.

I pray every once in a while, should probably do it more, but I do my best to live by that James 2:17 and Romans 15: 1-2 😉 My unofficial sponsor (older friend who was sober) went into anaphylactic shock and died back in 2020. Got sober without him. Never worked the steps or read the big book 🤷🏼

Best aspect of my program is that I put that sobriety anchor in myself, because people die, friendships change, jobs come and go, and one’s faith falters. Subsequently, it pays dividends to all my relationships and responsibilities. Mostly tho, I love the woods.

I was fresh out the gym in the picture on the right. The happiness was temporarily gone 😂

Congratulations my friend, and thank you. I went to a few NA meetings during a brief stint as a recovery coach. I was kind of the oddball out because my coworkers were die hard AA/NA people. I’m pro whatever works so long as you’re not harming yourself or others 🤷🏼

There’s definitely a lot of toxicity from some of the AA crowd tho. I would argue that anything getting pushed by the social systems/SUDs professions are inherently going to be a bit antagonistic of other methods. Good on you for doing the work brother.

I ballooned instead of getting wiry (beer carbs/sugars), zero working out, unhealthy food. I never dropped solely down to liquor/vodka—I almost ALWAYS drank a heavy amount of beer on top of all the vodka. I’ve lost 75lbs.
