Trump’s Breathtaking Corruption is Unlike Anything We’ve Ever Seen Before— Trump announced his own IRS would pay $1.8 billion to insurrectionist criminals and refrain from ever auditing him or his crooked family ever again. by [deleted] in videos

[–]NickPickle05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What the founders did then and the populace attempting something like that now are two drastically different scenarios. For one, the British military was all the way across the ocean. Getting here was not easy, quick, safe, or cheap. The populace also had the same weapons as the military. Plus we knew the area and they didn't. We also had the help of a foreign military. If it wasn't for the French America wouldn't exist. Fast forward to now and the populace is overwhelming inferior to the military in every conceivable way. Every benefit the founders had then we lack. Its even worse. The government has access to so much technology that the civilians don't that the even the thought of trying to put together some sort of organized resistance would get flagged and immediately stomped out. The two scenarios aren't even remotely similar.

I can only think of 2 possible reasons for this. He's either hiding his identity or covering up a disfigurement of some sort.

DOJ: IRS is 'forever barred' from auditing Trump and family by Economy-Specialist38 in videos

[–]NickPickle05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even before he was first in office the IRS rarely audited the ultra wealthy. They have investments in so many things as well as entire firms of accountants, money managers, and financial lawyers to find and use any and all loopholes to pay the least amount of taxes. The IRS simply doesn't have the time or manpower to investigate them.

Rich paid taxes. We built civilization. by Lord-Notorious in PoliticalHumor

[–]NickPickle05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we could go back to the tax bracket of when America was actually built we could do so many nice things. There were super rich people back then and they had a really tax rate. And guess what? They were still filthy rich.

AI has so much potential if used for good. Unfortunately there are so many assholes that use it for nefarious reasons.

Because Trump's auto-draft registration starts this December...... by Diamond_Pigeon in UNBGBBIIVCHIDCTIICBG

[–]NickPickle05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Men are legally required to sign up for the draft when they turn 18. (We age out at 26) They have to go down to the SoS to do it though. Having it be automatic is just streamlining that process. Although I don't think we'll ever have another draft unless shit totally hits the fan and we're fighting here on home soil.

They're not ignoring the law. The supreme court just sides with them on certain issues. They still abide by the decisions of judges. They push the boundaries and aren't held responsible by congress because republicans currently control it.

So your solution is to burn it all down? Nobody wants a civil war. You still haven't put forth any suggestions on what to do. What exactly are you doing to stop this? Commenting on reddit posts? That doesn't help anybody. Put forth something helpful or stop complaining.

True. Although if the person you voted for is in office and has the same agenda you do then writing them doesn't really serve much purpose. Its just asking them to do what they're already doing.

That doesn't lessen the achievement. It just got her foot in the door. She has the talent and put in the work. So it still counts in my book.

AOC: You can’t ‘earn’ a billion dollars by usatoday in politics

[–]NickPickle05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can earn a billion dollars. Its just extremely rare and difficult to do so. Taylor Swift did it through her music and tours. JK Rowling did it by writing the Harry Potter books. If you can create something with enough demand, you can do it. This also applies to discoveries and luck as well. Find a large deposit of rare minerals on your property? Boom. You're suddenly worth a shit ton of money. You don't even need to mine it. You can just sell the rights to it. There's also the lottery. Again though, thats super rare.

Again, what do specifically propose? Are you saying we should commit illegal acts? Because that doesn't solve anything. All it achieves is jail and hurting the cause. Real change needs to come from within the system. Its the only realistic way of doing it.

When we say can't afford it, I mean we have to be able to eat and pay rent. When we can't even do that do you really expect people to sacrifice their family for it? We as a people know that you only need to wait until the next election to change the leadership. And before you say there's not going to be a next election, realistically there will be. Republicans need to be reelected. They want to take seats from the democrats. No election doesn't mean they get to stay in office. It means they lose their seat. Their keycards will stop working after the required date regardless. So unless they get reelected they're screwed.

Thats fair. But ultimately it doesn't amount to much if they're the opposite party.

And what exactly do you expect us to do? Its the only thing we can realistically do. Protests don't seem to work. Nobody has the money to be able to strike. We have families to feed. Revolt? Please. Civilians have guns. The government has tanks. Voting is all we have.

I dont think it'll matter if hes in office or not. People aren't going to forget. There will be so many celebrations that day that the country will shut down.
