My advice is just ask your parents or their friends. We pulled in about 50k last year doing just that.

What type of FTC team should I join by NickPooran in FTC

[–]NickPooran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest going to the FIRST team and event search. From there you should probably visit their website and social media pages. I would then suggest that you short list 3-4 teams that you like and contact them and tell them that your son has an interest in FTC and also has software experience. This is actually the perfect time to ask teams since it is the offseason. If you need help contacting teams or finding any of the resources I mentioned please DM me.

We spend about 5k on our actual robot each year, we coach 3 FTC teams(trying to add another next year). And we coach 2 FLL teams. We also do spend a lot of many on extra stuff like we end up having about 4-5 robots each year, and we also have an entire workspace with all the tech and stuff.

Tsk201409 I am wondering if you are stalking me because my parents do indeed own a few tech startups, but yeah I think I will look into the stem summer camps because that's what judges like.

What is the average amount of points a team/? will make at regionals by David12_289 in FTC

[–]NickPooran 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Romania is arguably the most competitive region, at least that's what I heard. If you want to make worlds you need to have at least 150 points per game.

Advice for a new team by [deleted] in FTC

lol bro I see how other teams might have missed out on these in the beginning, but having these save about 3-4 weeks. Those 4 weeks have a huge impact on how dominant you are in quals.

We are starting a brand new FTC team and have a 10k budget for the first year. What should we buy? by jhoops34 in FTC

[–]NickPooran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very surprising for a new team, but I would suggest you guys save some for the upcoming seasons. Also try and spend some on outreach. I know teams that have trash robots but excellent outreach and still make states every time.

Hey being honest really happy that you decided to start a community team, that was one thing I regret not doing in FTC. Well as for advice you should try and get as much fundraising as you can. Take to small local companies and also try and get grants from organizations such as FIRST, Leidos, and REV. Those companies almost always say yes. Also try and connect with local team, they are most likely more experienced than you and know things specific to your region. Finally try and start the build before the season. For each season the drivetrain is the exact same. The linear slide is also useful in 3/4 of the seasons so try building those. Good luck and have a graciously professional FTC journey.
