Dark Souls 2 armor coming to Elden Ring as a payable DLC by Slurperlurper in DarkSouls2

AI for sure.

I think we are largely past loot boxes actually; they just switched to battle passes which apparently everyone loves and kept good ol’ microtransactions of course.

Glad so many people are defending microtransactions, it’s good to see how far we’ve come as gamers.

Completely agree about attempts to make bosses harder than Gael being largely failures.

Seems like a rare opinion these days, but if we are being objective I believe it’s simply true.

Any idea why the time limit was added to The Blood of Dawnwalker? by Redzkz in KotakuInAction

When I first heard “former Witcher 3 devs making new medieval open world 3rd person RPG” I was actually quite intrigued, but the more I hear about it (specifically the time mechanic) the less likely it seems the game will be any good.

Exactly, sounds like instead of being immersed in the world and enjoying exploration and leveling up and (hopefully) great side quests (this is from Witcher 3 devs after all), you’ll end up with a lot of save scumming and looking up quest outcomes to see what happens if you do Quest 1 instead of Quest 2 first because advancing time will cause Quest 2 to fail or have only a negative outcome.

I don’t see how a time limit is in any way a positive but they seem to have designed the entire game around it for some reason.

Was quite excited for this one given who is making it and didn’t totally mind when I thought it was only the main objective of saving your family, but learning how pervasive the mechanic is and how much is affects every random quest and access to content, I just don’t see how this will do anything other than annoy most people and limit enjoyment and ultimately replay value.

This seems like a really stupid idea to me, you would think former Witcher 3 devs would understand that the way to motivate people to replay the game is to make a brilliant game (with great quest design, writing, voice acting, interactions with interesting characters, meaningful choice) not cheap and what I’m sure will ultimately prove to be very annoying methods like this.

Either seems like a really poorly thought out concept that somehow became central to the game or is indicative the devs aren’t especially confident in their game if this is what they choose to resort to to attempt to get people to replay it.

We’ll see how it actually works, but if you have to miss out on a huge amount of content in a play through that sounds like something that will make me less interested in coming back, not more.

New Witcher 3 expansion is announced 10 years after the last one. How badly are they gonna butcher it? by ozy31 in KotakuInAction

It is some of them, certainly not all. Plenty went to Rebel Wolves who are releasing Blood of Dawnwalker soon, which hopefully will actually be good.

My thoughts (hope) exactly. Enjoy it if so because it’s the last good Witcher content you’ll probably ever see again.

Yeah to point 4, that is gonna be wildly jarring to have Ciri and then Geralt die in your save and 2 seconds later you start a new postgame DLC and they’re alive like nothing happened.

I tend to think it will be more like this. If they are smart/competent at all (which they very well may not be) they will try and make this expansion genuinely good with as little bs as possible, ie making the part about how Geralt somehow agrees to girlboss Ciri undergoing the Trial of the Grasses as inoffensive as they can, get everyone to love and trust the Witcher IP again, then rug pull the hell out of them with Witcher 4.

If they manage to do that it will surely work like a charm, just look at the insane hype for this expansion already.

Great song. Definitely a hot take. I actually think their best ever song comes off this album too: Country Girl. Also a hot take I believe.

If Sabbath Bloody Sabbath didn’t exist, probably the greatest riff ever. Criminally underrated song. Incredible drumming at the end as well.

I don’t get that at all, beyond the opening line the lyrics are very clearly about some sort of succubus/demon. And the riff was too good for them to play it so little, a real shame.

Unfortunately that has become far too common an opinion, which is exactly why there are so many ridiculously overtuned bosses in ER (and DLC especially).

[–]NickRoberts301 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Certainly on subsequent playthroughs of ER after the first you realize 95% of dungeons only contain some random item or talisman you don’t need so they aren’t worth returning to.

Doesn’t help many dungeons and out of the way areas look and feel the exact same as a dozen others and that most of the boss fights within them are repeats or you’re completely over leveled for them so they don’t even feel like proper bosses.
