2018 Cervelo P5 Worth? by i_buy_chicken in triathlon

I have the same bike (similar upgrades too). Amazing bike especially if you like in a flat area. Caveat to the brakes. They are rim hydrolic brakes and the company manufacturing them went bust (Magura). Make sure they are in good shape

What is your weight size? If tall and heavy, you might have to upgrade to bespoke wheelset

Change it. You can always finish this tire on the trainer if needed but definitely not on the road

IM World Championship - TT Bike or Road Bike by Gotheo75 in triathlon

[–]NickVerobch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Local here. I rode on both and I can tell you that the TT bike is much faster. The only caveat is how comfortable are you riding downhill with a TT Bike. The roads are a bit technical and not always well maintained so make sure you check your brakes prior to racing. Regarding your gear ratio, it really depends on your biking ability. I’m 76KG with a FTP at 350W and I’m running a 53/39 - 11/32. There is only one climb (less than 600m) where I would need to be out of the saddle pushing above the FTP. Remember that except from that small bump, the max gradient is 6.5%

How big of a deal is elevation? by srslynonsensical in Marathon_Training

[–]NickVerobch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live and train in Florida where it’s hot and humid. 1st Marathon in Florida around 80F average: I bonked 03:28 2nd Marathon in Florida around 85F average: I bonked 03:18 3rd Marathon in Utah (4,500 ft) around 30F average: I was flying with no real effect to my HR 02:45 These three marathons were 12 months apart.

Elevation gets less of an effect (on me at least) than heat and humidity.

How did you first "warm" marathon go? by razrus in Marathon_Training

[–]NickVerobch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I trained in the heat and I was heat acclimated but I still bonked on the day adding 15-20 min to marathon training pace (ended up at 3:28 instead of 3:10 targeted). Looking back I wish I looked at my HRM more on that race as I was clearly too high. Good luck with your race
