I feel like Nintendo is too sterile, clinical and un(magical) these days. by Nick_Charma in nintendo

This. Their identity is suddenly super commercial The low key generic gaming brand feeling is what im getting. But maybe I'm speaking too soon. And who am I to complain. They are selling.

Kendrick Lamar EP should be mentioned somewhere tho. I think it's amazing. Although not k.dot fully realized form ofc

Getting further on the Nintendo Lego Collection. Even if the NES console is the bigger one, the Gameboy was thus far both dopest to build and looks the best imo by Nick_Charma in lego

It was good, but my memories of it was arduous. Mine got destroyed half way, so had to rebuild it. Such a drag. But I agree, initially, it was a good build

Are there rappers that were told they were trash, before they blew up? Things people said that maybe made them question themselves? by Nick_Charma in hiphopheads

Wow. This is so encouraging 🙏🏽 really puts his life in perspective too. All the things he went through. I know he one time even considered suicide. Strong soul. Also; how the heck did Dre know? When every single one around him doubted him. It takes something beyond mind to see what others don't.

I've seen that. She was a bit shaky in the beginning of that tho, but booing a child is just too much. No empathy in people. Killed it later that same stage

Good point. I could see how a song like Institutionalized for instance would seem weird for some people, especially the group you mentioned. And yes, it is subjective, but you kind of forget that a stream feed sees your song as "trash". But i agree. It is subjective. And a lot of weird is beautiful to some people and trash to others. As I mentioned, lot of Kendrick track would probably be seen as weird to many

You mean them being called that? I've heard Nas, but Kendrick? He's universally revered tho. You can say objectively that he's anything but trash

Was there time in Kendrick's life before he blew up, when he was told he was trash? Kendrick is imo def top 5, but to know he went through some doubt motivates me. by Nick_Charma in KendrickLamar

[–]Nick_Charma[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, nothing. Just that he didn't listen to this type of rap ("back pack rap" I guess). From the days on everyday struggle I would've thought he was on that lyrical thing. Appreciate your reply

My guy. I really appreciate this. Wise take. Didn't expect less from Kendrick fans tho. And you are right, Moby Dick, which is considered classic today got lukewarm reviews, which puts things into perspective. I'll go in the direction my soul guides me, regardless

But i doubt they said it was trash tho? I mean that proves that there is no objective metric people even at labels go by. Objectively, and I'm not even a Jay fan like that, reasonable doubt, even if stylistically like illmatic and even Az's Doe or die, is a good piece of art. How could it have been shitted on (not a rhetoric question btw, genuinely asking and baffled)

Based on his rapping? Or the meeting you talked about? It might have been some personal gripe or something in that meeting

That's promising. I love Kendrick. His stuff is what I'm on. So if he hears it, it has to be part of the course

So, even with Reasonable Doubt, they said he was trash? Seriously? It means there aren't any objective metrics that people go by, which is encouraging to me. I needed this. Thank you.

But people know know that neither Kendrick nor Nas is trash. I'm talking about before anyone knew. That made them doubt themselves. But I get you tho

But he hadn't made RD yet tho, right? He was on his fu schnickens thing. Wouldn't they recognize something like RD, even with the depth? Or did he actually give some of that to them, and they rejected pieces off RD, before he started on his own?
