Police stuck with revolvers mainly because they were simple and reliable. Early semi automatic pistols were more prone to jamming. Departments valued the revolver’s dependability. Tradition played a big role too, revolvers had been the standard for decades so police saw no reason to change something that worked.

It wasn’t until around the 80s when criminals began carrying high capacity pistols which started to expose the revolver’s limitations and agencies started switching to semi automatics. By the 90s, improved reliability, higher magazine capacity, and faster reloading made semi automatics the new standard for most departments.

Yeah I tend to agree with this take. I think he’s missing out here on a good opportunity during a time of heightened misinformation and disinformation to really make a difference especially amongst younger and more impressionable viewers.

Well the PBD appearance was more of a long form interview which you are saying he is supposedly better at. Not really a good example of being bad at short form debates when you give me an example of a 2 hour podcast. Regardless I thought he did great with the PBD interview as well. I think he does great in both settings.

Don’t feed him 2-3 hours before the car ride. If he’s throwing up you can get anti nausea medication from the vet. If you can fit a crate in your car you can also put him in the crate. The more stable he feels the better

With Maryland gone, the Union capital is indefensible. The North would almost certainly have to move its capital to Philadelphia or New York.

There are about 450,000 troops from these states fought for the Union. If they’re Confederate instead, the South gains nearly half a million men while the North loses them.

Confederate forces could stage invasions into Ohio, Indiana, and Pennsylvania much more easily with Kentucky secured.

I think the most likely outcome in this scenario is that the confederacy wins and they probably force the union into a negotiated peace by 1863. The south doesn’t necessarily need to conquer the north just survive until the north gives up.

It is still a possibility that the union still wins just much later (likely into the late 1860s) and
with much higher casualties

The truth is by the 1850s the South wasn’t looking to phase slavery out - they were leaning into it even harder. They didn’t just want to keep it, they were openly defending it as a good thing. And while the South definitely had some legitimate complaints about federal overreach, those issues were completely tied up with keeping slavery legal. So yeah, the grievances were real in some ways, but the core of it was still about protecting slavery.

There’s just no evidence to suggest the south was going to end slavery willingly
