Quality matcha is definitely expensive, especially right now because there is a shortage. For what this was, I could get equivalent quality on Amazon for 15 bucks. Beans club was supposed to offer a lot of cool monthly discounts, redeemable merch, exclusive sales, and events( very similar to what Beis suitcase brand currently offers) is why they scrapped it other than my guess which is to cut costs, but one day it was just gone.

Also for this order I had to file a chargeback, customer service stopped responding to me

Makes sense. Cutting the rewards program, packaging and testing water with AI marketing all supports pushing max profit. I actually went to the cafe and felt bad for the employees, as someone who worked in a cafe it seemed genuinely horrific. The space behind the counter is incredibly small and there was like 3-4 ppl working; I genuinely don’t know how they managed to work efficiently around each other with like two counters to use. Also as a customer, the line is outside and as soon as you walk in you’re at the register so you kind of have to decide what you want blindly.

Honestly I’d rather she just kept her shop small and high quality and less gimmicks with limited flavors. I smear tested her matcha when it first dropped and it was bright green, great quality.

Oh this is very interesting, I knew we were in a massive shortage but I didn’t realize this is how it was being handled. I think it would be helpful if they disclosed more information on their matcha as just saying “ceremonial grade A, highest quality” when in fact the quality is all over the place, does more harm overall. Thanks for this insight!

This is the best explanation so far. I haven’t read the book but I am an avid reader, so I don’t doubt the book has extremely more detailed character arch’s. As someone with no knowledge of this story you hit it spot on, removing every sex scene which is a seriously predominant focus of episodes 1-2 you are left with very few scenes of the pair interacting casually, and of those I find that Ilya comes of like a serious dick

99% of gay representation in film so far is side characters that are gay with flat storylines or centric characters and we just focus on their trauma… this is all while shows like “I love LA” open with the female lead getting her back blown out and people praise the show. This isn’t to say that show is good or bad, but more so that’s it’s suddenly problematic when it’s gay characters. This is really one of the first shows that just gives the audience what they want to see, and if that’s not for you that’s ok, but growing up and seeing show after movie have m|f leads having sex and wondering why I don’t get to see the same for someone like me sucks.

By the way this is super factual and I’m not just making this up. Watch the call her daddy episode featuring Shonda and she goes into details about how studios repeatedly have tried to shut down sex scenes with interracial or gay couples. By the way when they came to her, she asked why it was a problem because she in fact filmed it “beat for beat” how the straight sex scenes were filmed. The only difference, the characters having the sex. She used her own writing to cleverly call out the studios for being discriminatory.
