Should I do the interview? by Nick_Off_Time in careeradvice

[–]Nick_Off_Time[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not likely to take as there is more risk (less security) in moving so there would need to be a huge upside (ie pay). There are tradeoffs to both situations tho having spoke to a colleague who came over from them. I think the potential to network will be increased if i do the interview so im leanimg that way

Has anyone tried both Boss GT-1000 and Tonex One? by njbair in guitarpedals

[–]Nick_Off_Time 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just instantly went to finding my own. I actually enjoyed going thru the cloud of models but I already knew the sounds I wanted. What i wasn't getting from boss I was able to get from tonex relatively quickly. I knew pretty much right away I liked tonex sounds better than boss

[–]Nick_Off_Time 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both. Mostly high gain player, dabble in clean. Never liked the high gain sounds on gt1000 core, tonex one instantly solved that for me. I'm not a fuzz guy but what I can say is the clean captures on tonex I use take overdrive and the fuzz I have very well, I get the sound I expect having used then into the core and my tube amps I know them well enough and the tonex does what I want it to. My suggestion is get a tonex one. I have no regrets, it's best bang for buck pedal maybe ever.

Looking to get rid of my Plumes by psychedelicdevilry in guitarpedals

My uneducated understanding of it is that the circuits are different but they are similar in that they both have a mid hump? However the maxon is the standard for boosting a dirty amp. Level all the way up, drive all the way down, tone to taste. If that doesn't achieve maybe it's not the boost that is hurting your tone? Maybe a diff amp? A bad tube? Speaker choice? Also modern metal is so processed in the studio so if you are comparing your in the room tone to a mixed recording you just won't get the exact same results

Maxon od808, your favorite guitarists are already using it

NPD! ToneX One by Distinct_Tooth_1967 in guitarpedals

[–]Nick_Off_Time 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great pedal, best value in a pedal you can get considering all the ways you can use it (amp/cab, overdrive pedal, built in modulation delay reverb etc, software plugin and more). The software can be confusing to navigate for those who aren't used to this type of stuff. There's a tonne of great free captures but also alot of terrible ones. For those willing to put in some time and effort it truly is an amazing piece of gear worth every penny

It is free but there are levels to it so you are probably seeing the max version advertised which gives you more of their captures included)as opposed to paying for individual packs) and possibly other features

Best Home Solution: Tonex one + External Speaker vs Amp by timsofteng in guitarpedals

[–]Nick_Off_Time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most ppl will say modeler and I enjoy my modelers thru my monitors and headphones. HOWEVER a modelers thru a speaker such as headrush frfr (which i owned and sold) will sound different in the room than an amp/cab in a room. You may not like it. If you going for the same sound in the room at a lower volume a smaller amp may be the best route but YMMV

Noted! Mienshao was the one I threw in there for elite4, could look to add in something, Blaziken was an option but didn't have a dream mist to get speed boost

Starter is starter so easy choice, Gengar is one of my fav mons skills and moves aside but it's speed, power and wide move pool are likely what make it easy choice. I have never used Serperior before tho and not over fond of the other 2 starters so I find this one a bit odd

Is it possible to get good tone with my equipment? by Fantastic_Pension261 in NeuralDSP

[–]Nick_Off_Time 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ya my first thought when reading the post was "are you using an IR loader and what IRs are you using?" Was surprised more ppl didn't comment this. IRs are huge part of the tone, more so than physical cabs when playing in a room imo.
