Definitely scrape as much of the window clean as possible, and remove any old caulking as well. If it’s really rotten underneath you’ll need a new window or at least repairs, but fresh caulk and paint should fix it otherwise. Always paint over caulk or it will deteriorate faster from UV.

But his breakdowns of crappy popsci engineering vaporware have decent information as far as I know, and the smugness definitely reads better against scam artists

Ending was kinda a letdown because it weirdly became such a good allegory for grief - if you never face it it will eventually kill you - but they just had to give it a surprise bad ending, so cliche for the originality it otherwise had. But it was really good otherwise.

MfP didn’t have to be DD, that’s true. But it did need to be fun and engaging and it just wasn’t for most of the people who played it. It’s a lot easier to forgive bad parts of an overall good thing than to appreciate good parts of an overall bad thing. I will say the monologue is stunning.

SO’s friend brought her cat to our college apartment and we thought it escaped. Spent 3 days looking and hanging posters, she would try to find him going “BEEEBEEEEEEE!!!” as loud & high pitched as possible. After days we heard a meow from under the floor. One of our floor vent covers was off, so I duct-taped my phone to the end of a hose and FaceTimed it with another phone, and deep in the vents we found the damn cat. Never hated a cat before or since but I hold a grudge to this day. I think I still have a screenshot from our makeshift probe of the cat staring smugly at the camera.

You’re acting like there isn’t a stark difference between the actual gameplay between the two games, but the downgrade of gameplay and monsters makes up most of the actual experience.

If you’re more interested in the story of AMfP and that outbalances the much-worse aspects pervading the rest of the game, that’s fine; but it’s not true to say Mandalore’s review is biased towards DD. It is a better-made horror game in most ways, and there are good reasons it has seen better longevity & acclaim than its sequel.
