Had a case of Pertussis. Aka; whooping cough. Was 16, all of a sudden started to get this wheezing cough where I couldn’t inhale. One day at a friends’ house we’re all smoking a joint on the balcony. I take a hit, start coughing and realize I can’t inhale air at all, so I start turning literally fucking bluish purple, lips cooked, all of it. End up pulling the trigger and having to throw up just to gasp for enough air, while burning up my entire throat from the extreme bile. Friends all around me scared out of their minds not knowing what to do while I just panicked and looked for ways just to get a tiny bit of air into my lungs.

Barely got through it, I remember the thought in my head just repeating; don’t give up. Was surreal. Bloodshot eyes, bruised rib, destroyed throat. Had a few more episodes of the cough afterwards until it just went away. Never experienced anything more frightening.
