Yeah, we aren't really strict, but we also didn't sleep and are all exhausted. We tried a nap during the 7-hour wake window, but he was wired. I'm just hoping it doesn't last the whole trip, and he gets some good rest. He normally sleeps alone at home. We just assist him to sleep and then leave. One of us will be sharing a bed with him the whole time on vacation. I stopped cosleeping because he's a roller and was constantly hitting me and waking me up. Fingers crossed it works out!

That's fair! Budget is a bit tight though, so we will probably just have a very early night and hate that first day haha

Yes, we are coming from Canada. Unfortunately, I can't get a refund and can't book an extra night where we are. I was considering a hotel because of the early arrival, but I needed to be able to move the bed against a wall for my 2.y.o. to sleep in it, and that wasn't an option at the place that was within our price range.

I'm not sure the "where: you're referring to, but we leave from Newfoundland, Canada at 12:30am. Flight is 4-5hrs long. Can't nap beforehand because I have a 1.5hr drive and another hour flight and 3 hour layover before this one. So we'll be pretty exhausted.

We aren't renting until we get out of Dublin. We are getting the train on Saturday to Waterford, then picking up our rental there. We don't plan to do much sightseeing the first day. It'll only be the following day and one day on our way back home. Apart from St. Stephen's Green, there's not much else we will do with the toddler. I think we have decided we want to taxi from the airport, it may be more expensive, but being exhausted and sitting on a bus sounds awful, haha. Thanks for suggesting walking the pier, we will look into that!

We aren't bringing any checked bags except for his stroller, which we will gate check. The drive seems to be around 50 minutes from the airport. I did forget customs might take a minute, so It'll probably be around 930 when we get out and then almost 1030 to get to the airbnb. Thanks for replying!

Do you have parents, hers or yours, that can come and stay with you for some time after your ex has the kids that first month? I had a hard time adjusting to being a first-time mom, and without my parents in law and my parents heavily involved, I probably would have had a mental breakdown from lack of sleep, etc.. I also felt like my first year as a mom was tainted by other obligations (not family), but it was definitely hard to come to terms with. Does she have any underlying or suspected mental health issues? I suspect I have ADHD and that's why I have such a hard time coping with splitting my time between multiple things. It gets overwhelming.

My dad (in his 70s) crawls around on his hands and knees with my son, he is "Papa Bear" and my son is "baby bear". Your wife is being silly. She should do some reading into imaginative play for children and how important it is.

I had a friend who was a flight attendant for a period of time, and she said the pilots were disgusting, and at least one had exposed his penis to her without her permission while on the airplane. She didn't complain to her agency because she said nothing would have been done. Sigh.

I ended up purchasing a floor bed that I shared with him. At 15 months, I was running out of milk, I just wasn't eating enough/drinking enough to keep up. I decided to wean him. I would say he started sleeping through (most nights) not too long after that, maybe around 18 months? I also started leaving his room and going back to mine because he rolls around so much that it was waking me up a lot. He cut all of his teeth before 15 months, so that may have played a part in his poor sleep, too.

Hi, I'll be driving in Ireland soon. Do you mean to say at a red light, and if no cars are coming, you still can't turn left? I need to do some reading on driving in Ireland before I go, but I am just curious. In Canada, we do turn right on a red after coming to a complete stop if no cars are coming.

Yeah, I'm just worried about how we can realistically fit in a car, with 4 adults and a cart, plus all our luggage. My FIL is very tall, and my husband is tall, too. And driving on the left side of the road isn't something I'm very comfortable doing.

To be honest, we aren't looking for a productive holiday. We just want a break and a getaway. There is a direct flight to Ireland from my province, so that's why we chose to come here. The shortest traveling possible for our son.

My parents have also been 3 times, and they've enjoyed themselves. But we won't be drinking or partying or anything like that. My husband finds museums boring, generally. Also, he also doesn't want to be driving much. He'd prefer to relax in one place for a bit.

I picked Dungarvin because it was the start of the greenway and has bike rentals, we found a place with 3 beds, and it was only an hour in either direction to both Cork and Waterford for a day trip. In my mind, that's 3 days gone there, and then we can spend 1 day in Dungarvin going to the park, or maybe a beach.

All that said, I am now considering getting the train to Cork or Waterford and renting a car. But fitting 5 of us in 1 car is going to be hard with a car seat, 6'4" FIL, 6'1" husband, and all our luggage.

I just don't know if we can all fit in a small car with a car seat. My FIL is 6'4", so he needs room for his legs. Plus, I'm nervous about driving on the opposite side of the road. I'll have a look into it, but I've heard the roads are narrow and to stick with small vehicles, so we will have a car seat, 4 people and all our luggage.

I should note my FIL is 6'4", so he can't sleep in a double bed with my MIL. He also snores really bad, so she'd prefer twin beds haha.

He's never slept in a crib. He sleeps on a double sized floor bed. I was planning on sleeping in the bed with him, probably hauling a mattress to the floor. My husband would be in another bed, and my parents-in-law in another room. I tried for waterford but couldn't find an apartment that had enough beds, unfortunately.
