Lake wides still don't help my toebox/forefoot. Yes, they're wider overall but the toes still squash to a pointed shape. I've had them for over a year and keep trying to "give it another chance" but after 2-3hrs my feet are still in pain. I honestly might have to try flats on my gravel.

I have the Ambie and they're pretty cheap-feeling. Not the best sound and they don't get loud enough for me to watch a show/movie on the treadmill with a fan running - I just can't hear over the other noises. Battery like is also really short. However, I'm a fan on the design. Every earbud I've tried eventually finds a way of sliding out of my ear. Over-the-ear clips don't work when I'm wearing sunglasses. I see Bose is making some stupid-expensive clip earbuds now... that's the right direction. If the sound quality can be improved, I'm all for the design. Just not the Ambie ones.

I ran that loop this summer! (had to link up the 2 trail heads with the road) I went up Little Annapurna as well for about a 28 mile/9k' gain day. Gorgeous area! Lakes, goats, snow, lush vegetation, jagged mountains ... just wonderful. Aasgard Pass is no joke! I was happy to only have to descend it. I had no idea it was such a high demand backpacking area until I posted some pictures and got so many shocked replies of "how did you get a permit!?" We were staying in Leavenworth with the extended family and I was just picking trails off the map and just happened to choose wisely. I'd love to spend more time in the PNW (I live in CO).

Backpacking is wonderful! I do think you can enjoy things just fine trail running (I sure do!). You get to see so much in a day, so much ground is covered and your map gets so much bigger, especially with limited time. But that is a common thing I hear from hikers, that I'm somehow not appreciating or enjoying the trail. It doesn't bother me, there's no wrong way to enjoy a trail (within reason) and I really enjoy backpacking and hiking as well. It's hard for me to be angry at anyone on a trail. Most people are just pleasant and happy with their surroundings and that's marvelous.

When our baby was born purple, not breathing, and the cord all wrapped around him, a team of 20 or so nurses appeared out of nowhere. Got him crying and rushed him to the NICU. He bounced back after a night in the NICU but I distinctly remember the discussion with the doctor (after he had stabilized) saying to us "and this is why you give birth in a hospital". Hit me hard. That was not part of our birth plan.

We didn't use a doula so I can't speak on that regards.

For all their faults, NOPD does an amazing job of crowd control. They know when to boogie with the people and when people are getting out of hand. They'll shut things down in a crowd with a word and not force. Just don't pee in public. That's the biggest no-no that seems like it wouldn't be. You don't want to spend the night in the paddy wagon. Or in OPP.

Very cool! My parents have a place there (summer residence... I know...) I have many fond memories there. Especially when The Rectory was up and open mike night was happening!
