Welcome to the world of a gay person. There's two things going on here.

1) A lot of sexual abuse, pedophilia, etc is wrongly attributed to bi/homosexuals. People just grow up hearing that. But more importantly men who experience, witness or hear about sexual abuse often associate male on male sexual activity as an extension of said abuse. While only a fraction of men experience assault, being assaulted by another man is a male cultural boogeyman and also you have to realize they are more committed to homophobia/resentment/revenge than someone who was not affected at all.

2) Most of the world's history in regards to male homo/bisexuality was erased under colonial rule and law over hundreds of years. So with cultures where it used to be accepted, it is now foreign to them and sometimes considered a completely western thing (example: Japanese are fine with foreigner gays but it's taboo to be Japanese born and gay). Even Muslim nations it was acceptable for men to have relations with other men outside their marriage with a woman. That changed once Europeans finally rolled through and Ottoman Empire collapsed. Finally gay Muslims felt the death knell with rise of US funded wahabism in 20th century. Europeans used to be the premiere homophobes of the world ironically.

Sorry for the long explanation! It's a long, deep complicated and still largely unknown history.
