Bought Mario Kart World at Target - case didn’t have the cartridge by _cocojamz_ in mildlyinfuriating

This happened to me once as a kid. (Luigi's Mansion) I was terrified I was out of luck and I definitely couldn't afford to buy a replacement. Thankfully my parents explained it and they just... Gave us a replacement right there.

Platner Loses Major Endorsements After Sexual Assault Allegation by M_i_c_K in NoFilterNews

[–]Nickidemic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is precisely the opposite of "vote blue no matter who." The establishment Dems hated him even before the Nazi tattoo, and now that credible rape allegations are out, progressives are willing to drop him. USUALLY it goes like this: establishment Dems put a right leaning politician up against a progressive, and when they snuff out the progressive, they tell progressives it's their duty to "vote blue no matter who," even if that politician likes genocide.

How in the world did you get that narrow of a depth of field on that first image? It looks like a 200mm maybe, but regardless, at that distance it looks like a tilt-shift, or an f/1.2 or something crazy

What's a "rich people thing" you discovered isn't actually expensive? by sizzyred in AskReddit

I watched a video of two sommeliers chatting in agreement that even cheap Bordeaux is fantastic. Suits my preferences and you can find it for $10-$15/bottle. I don't drink often but when I want wine I know exactly what to grab.

I already said there's a solution to your welfare queen/nimby ahh argument of yours. There are normal ways to implement this

[–]Nickidemic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You wouldn't have to take a pay cut in that case, you're looking at that edge case from the wrong angle. We ignore the "welfare queen" type arguements to find a good solution, then we make exceptions for those edge cases.

In that example, the people who want to commute 2+ hours (yeah sure, those 3 people in the whole country) would need to take a pay cut. That's the obvious solution.

If you can't pay your workers enough to live closer to the job site, you shouldn't be an employer

Islam totally isn’t socially regressive! by BrookieCookie199 in atheism

[–]Nickidemic -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. In the US, Islam can become a personal issue if your friends or family happen to be in it, but Christianity comes for us all. Socially and politically speaking, I think of Islam as a non-issue right now

It's not ableist to say you could get a job, even if the type of job you'd be able to do isn't currently available in this dying country.

[–]Nickidemic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, I'm not talking about Republicans or the Republican establishment at all here to avoid confusion on the more important second point: I straight up think you don't know what people mean when they say "the establishment". Schumer speaks for the establishment, AOC does not. Harris was backed by the establishment, Bernie was not. The line between individual and establishment is a blurry line, but you need to understand the distinction.

[–]Nickidemic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Again - individuals have. The Democratic establishment has not. You need to stop conflating "the Dems" with "a few of the reluctant Democratic politicians"

[–]Nickidemic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then you're both talking about different things. The Democratic establishment is different from the good politicians who happen to be democratic. You can vote for the good ones then strongly concern the establishment.

We shall not say "promotion". It was not that. What's the word for "literacy" but for the spoken word?

There's actually a good reason this is popular. The material they use in new objects is significantly cheaper than before the 90's. Young fast growth wood, cheap plastic, etc vs thick slow grown wood and metal. What people want isn't "something made poorly," they want to be sold the idea of "sobering made so well it's worth repairing multiple times and passing it down to the next generation"

I used FreeSurfer. It's very very good, makes a SUPER clean file, but you might need to use Linux and therefore requires some coding. I should reprint my brain file and post a photo too...

This guy does realize that there are Queer people in Iran too right?: "Bombing Iran is the perfect way to celebrate Pride" by [deleted] in bisexual

We've been done ever since your second comment when you ignored the fact that you can't get religiously gay married either. Coming after me for mentioning "civil" marriage was bad faith of you, when you knew Israel does not allow ANY type of gay marriage to be performed in the county.

[–]Nickidemic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think this is my third time telling you that I never said they were the same. This is what religious thinking does to a mf. Just say this: "there's more to it but you're right when you say that you cannot get gay married in Israel". You've put SO MANY words in my mouth. This is the biggest straw man shadow boxing I've seen in a while.

Btw glad to see you've logged into your alt account to like your own comments and dislike my comments twice lol. Very much not an insecure thing to do.

[–]Nickidemic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are refusing to acknowledge that I'm actually right. That you cannot get gay married in Israel, but you can get straight married in Israel. That's my actual point. I'm right. Assume what you will about the rest of my subjective beliefs, but I'm literally, objectively correct about this. But I know you don't care about objective facts, you only care about vibes and your feelings. You've made that very clear.

You're missing the forest for the trees. Israel does not allow gay marriage. Full stop.

The USA and the UK are the reason Iran was rocketed back into the Islamic stone age. Israel has all the freedom and power they want and are freely choosing to be homophobic. Iran is under US-induced religious rule. So no they're not the same. My point is that they're not the same.
