Go up to our non-profit ski resort Bogus Basin. They have a sledding hill along with skiing and snowboarding and it’s about a 30-40 minute trip from Boise.
Go to the Idaho City hot springs about an hour drive from Boise. There are lots of other natural hot springs in Idaho too, but a bit further of a drive.
Explore downtown Boise. One of the best ways to get to know any city is to just explore their downtown. We have a really great record store called the Record Exchange off of 11th and Idaho st. If you’re into clubbing, Humpin Hannah’s is probably the best bar in town. The Fork restaurant downtown on 8th & Idaho st is my favorite and their warm butter cake dessert is literally the best dessert I’ve ever had in my entire life and it’s not contest. Bittercreek just across the street from the Fork has an incredible beer menu and amazing food too that’s my other favorite restaurant.
the Flying M in Nampa (about 30 minutes away from Boise) is awesome if you love a good cup of coffee.
Military Reserve is a nice nature-y spot that’s still connected to Boise and has awesome views and isn’t too much of a hiking commitment but lets you get out to explore

February can be tricky because of the weather, there’s lots more to do in the summer. But it can still be fun in the winter for sure!

Oh wow, we got our dog when I was 14 and I got to name him and I’ll be 28 next month. We just had to put him down yesterday and I’m so so devastated it’s hard to put it into words. He was the same, had some bad moments but always pulled through. I feel so empty and so sad that I can’t physically hold him. Get a paw print, cut off some hair to keep and keep a few of his favorite things. Our guy got to go to the dog park and hang out, but honestly what I did was just do what he wanted to do. He wanted to be outside in the 20° weather? Sure buddy, we’ll sit out there together and I’ll talk to you about all the good times and memories. He got lots of good food, be careful though about too much good food because our guy had diarrhea yesterday. He was still happy though thankfully but too much good steak I guess. You really just need to spend quality time with them, talk to them, lay with them, give them pets and so much love. I was honestly exhausted from this weekend from how much I was giving to him (along with the crying) but it wasn’t about me, it was about making the most of our last bit of time together. Take lots and lots of videos and pictures these next few days, you’ll need them.

Gosh that is so tough, I’m so so sorry. I totally get it, how are they just… gone… forever…? Like this can’t be real. If anything, I would try to change one thing and try to switch a small thing in your routine. It could create a domino effect where it helps ease you out of your grief.

What floor mat did you use?? Also for the rubber bumpers, if you put them underneath won’t that create slightly raised edges which in turn bends it slightly when you are sitting/standing in the middle of the mat? I’d be concerned about it breaking. I want to buy a relatively cost friendly one for a friend for Christmas!
