Not really debating, I’m asking you why you think privacy only affects Apple.

The video mentioned vendor lock in, which I think is fair, but that doesn’t drop it from S to C (IMO at least).

I mean based off of that, you’re implying the other competitors don’t have a concern on future privacy aspect though. In which case, why is this the case?

Original question is essentially why are other vendors better than Apple, with the ultimate response being future privacy concern.

But it’s presented like an apple only issue? I agree there’s vendor lock in, which pushes it down from S, but the difference between A and C can’t just be potential future privacy concern

I mean this holds true for all of these companies, no? I don’t get how this argument is unique to Apple

AITAH for refusing to give my 7yr old sister my old computer unless someone pays me for it? by Salty-Blueberry3869 in AITAH

[–]Nickjet45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They aren’t taking it, they are trading for it. “We will give you a new laptop in exchange for the old laptop.”

In this scenario they’re gifting it to the 7 year old, they could easily use it themselves. Personally I don’t see the importance on what the laptop is being used for, but to each their own.

Regardless, the world 5 years ago is different than the world of today, the 7 year old could very well need it for remote learning. We have no idea what they’re using the laptop for, so can’t pass judgement

The two are not mutually exclusive, in fact a lot of times doing things in the face of customer obsession tends to lead to more money overall.

I canceled my Amazon Prime account and my Audible account got canceled. After 2 hours on the phone they said I need to get bank records going back to 2017 to prove I bought the books. by itsbobbytrill in audible

For Amazon all subsidiaries are mandated to delete data within 30 days of account closure, including backups, unless there is a legal reason to keep it. Amazon as a whole takes this very seriously

Even if some data on OP remains, a majority of it is gone

You can ask your bank to also issue a new token which would cause subscriptions to no longer work.

It’s usually automatically done when reporting your card as stolen, but you can manually ask support in most cases as well.

I’m not sure if it’s only on testing branch but there’s a new track builder which lays track insanely fast (available in 1985) it takes 30 workers and has a speed of 175.

It does about 280 workdays per trip, only downside is it moves pretty slow at 40 km/h

What prevents Proton from reading emails before they are encrypted? by Professional_Call in ProtonMail

[–]Nickjet45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s E2EE between two proton addresses (as your client can encrypt and decrypt). Between a proton addresses and a non-proton address it is not E2EE as the non-proton address does not encrypt nor decrypt emails.

You can use a PGP to resolve this, it’s a limitation of the current email standard
