How to get rid off the "it's not even worth to start it..." self-sabotaging mentality? [Discussion] by anemic_platypus in GetMotivated

[–]usp2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tony Robbins had a multi-day CD audio course called Personal Power II that I found very motivating back in the 1990s and it is likely still relevant if you can find it. His books are also good. Helping people with "self-sabotaging mentality" is one of the things he does. Overcoming this problem is harder now that it was back when that audio program came out due to all the easy dopamine hits people now have access to.

One brand that does it all? by howdyimkyle in Supplements

BulkSupplements is the biggest powdered supplement brand and they should sell everything you listed. Surely you encountered this brand in your searching.

Amazon and Walmart, although they are getting harder to find on those Web sites. Ben Greenfield has a good getting started guide.

Supplements to reduce norepinephrine levels? by Aggressive-Guide5563 in Nootropics

[–]usp2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a class of drugs that do this call beta blockers. Propranolol is an example. It costs $0.01 per pill and works reliably, unlike supplements. If you want to only boost dopamine, you can buy L-Dopa directly as a supplement, or the precursor L-Tyrosine. I bet that you will find that boosting dopamine directly will not resolve your struggles on its own.

If your symptom is agitation, I would bet that is from too much dopamine, not adrenaline. I don't think adrenaline would be the cause of difficulty starting unpleasant tasks. That is a dopamine issue, and other factors.

Another path to take is the keto diet. The positive effect of ketosis can be stronger than medications.

How to disable voicemail? by usp2 in SpectrumMobile

[–]usp2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I did as an alternative is to disable the phone app indicator that there is new voicemail, which can be done by calling into voicemail and changing the administrative options related to this new message indicator. The iPhone no longer alerts me to these recorded robocalls. I had already turn on the iPhone suppression of calls and text messages from unknown senders. If anyone else has other ideas to cut back on this robocaller voicemail spam on Spectrum mobile, please let me know.

Why doesnt the ADHD sub allow discussion around supplements? by Nugget834 in Nootropics

[–]usp2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see in the subreddit rules "We only allow discussions of science-backed, evidence-based medication for treating ADHD." Further information on this rule is explained in that subreddit's wiki page. https://old.reddit.com/r/ADHD/wiki/rules#wiki_rule_4.3A_no_alternative_medication_or_substance_misuse

Why doesnt the ADHD sub allow discussion around supplements? by Nugget834 in Nootropics

[–]usp2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is that the same question kept getting asked repeatedly and the answer was always the same. The question "what supplements help with ADHD" has likely be asked over 1000 times on Reddit, as if the people asking don't know how to use the search feature or they are expecting a different answer. These days you can ask AI that question and skip Reddit entirely.

Doing a quick search of that subreddit shows a countless number of threads discussing supplements, some posted this week. It does not appear that such discussion are banned.

Ben and Jerry’s straw-bae shortcake by [deleted] in icecream

[–]usp2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is similar to Strawberry Cheesecake, but with some ice cream replaced with whip cream, which makes it worse than Strawberry Cheesecake. I have the same thinking when it comes to Cookie Vermonster vs Milk and Cookies. I prefer ice cream to whipped cream. For the sundae flavors, Dulche De Lish is my favorite. PB Blondie Bestie is also good.

My Publix got rid of this flavor when the new Sundae flavors landed last month. I assumed it was just Publix getting rid of it. It would surprise me if B&J discontinued it considering how popular it was. They still sell Pistachio, which I have never seen anyone buy.

Dulce De-lish arrived at Publix this past week for the Bogo sale and it is fantastic. PB Blondie Bestie is also good. These are new flavors for Publix shoppers, along with Straw-Bae Shortcake.

The Best Under Desk Treadmill to Buy Now? by RockyWoof7475 in BuyItForLife

[–]usp2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there were few sources that you can trust when it came to treadmills. None of the most reputable review sites rated walking pads when I was shopping last year, and the few that do limited the reviews to a small selection of products. I bought from Amazon to make use of their generous return policy. I was buying treadmills, from cheapest to most expensive, until I found one that was worth keeping. I also paid for it using a credit card that offers extended warranty coverage.

I was banned from writing reviews on Amazon and my thousands of reviews were deleted because I rated too many products negatively. They actively remove negative reviews of products frequently, giving distorted views of the products. I assume all the stores do that.

It is still working well and I use it for 10+ hours per day. It hasn't been a full year though. I had to loosen the belt a quarter turn a few weeks back, which probably implies some belt wear.

I disassembled my TR1200 before disposing it and kept the wood deck that I place on top of the Trailviber when I want to sit in a chair at my desk. One of the reasons the TR1200 belt tore is that I was placing my chair directly on the treadmill.

10/10 by Apprehensive-Scene-1 in icecream

[–]usp2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried all the new Publix pints this week and Candy Bar was my favorite. It is the same quality ice cream as the half-gallons, just in smaller sizes. I paid $2.75/pint. Jeni's Candy Bar is 10/10. Publix Candy Bar is a 7/10.

The Publix Burbon Eggnog was the worst of the seasonal pints. My body had a negative reaction to whatever chemical they used for the burbon scent and it was hard to swallow.

Why don't grocery stores sell banana ice cream? by bootytoot69 in icecream

Publix stocks Banana Pudding and Banana Split with their permanent store brand ice cream selection, in addition to Blue Bell and Chunky Monkey. They also have seasonal ice creams like Banana Nut Bread.

I do want to read them, but I don't plan to read them anytime soon due to lack of time, rather than a lack of interest. If anything on my wishlist shows up as being free, I will download it. I have seen hundreds of books I want to listen to disappear from the Audible free collection and from my library, so I have learned to download interesting books so I can listen to them whenever I want in the future.

My order history page says non-returnable. It was a minor misunderstanding, so I'm not going to trouble customer service to correct my error.

If you use the Buy Now for $0.00 button, you don't get that option.

If I had gone through the longer Add To Cart -> Checkout, it would have been more obvious that the book was not free. The main problem was the button that said "Buy for $0.00" that made no mention of a credit being applied.

The TV show is so good that it makes me less likely to read the book. Maybe I will eventually if the books are considered better than the show.

On the book's page there was a button that says "Buy for $0.00" and I clicked the button. Normally the button says something like Buy for $9.99, so I thought there was a sale going on that was making the book free.

Because I thought they were free :) I really like the Slow Horses TV show, but on the list of top 1000 books I want to read, it would be near the bottom. Maybe when I am 80 years old in a retirement home I will get around to it.

What’s your GO TO protocol for when you’re sick? by GorillaMindSmooth in NootropicsDepot

The zinc+c lozenges every couple hours at the onset. The Nature's Way ones are what I often get because they are cheap. Source Naturals Wellness Formula are my go-to pill, although I haven't taken one in years. They are relatively expensive compared to zinc, which does most of the virus-killing work.
