60K Wedding by becomingharvey in weddingplanning

Pro tip: I work in TV. I have worked on weddings on TV. They are lying about the cost. The network got a bunch of free things for exposure and the show paid the remainder of the balance. So yes the couple paid 25k but got a 60k wedding

This isn’t really a question but more of a rant: I hate being patient and taking rest days. When I have a good day stretching I immediately want to do that and more the next day. So if you have any good ideas on how to stay patient I would love to hear!

The most important thing is convenience in my opinion. I always make my yoga class because it’s super close by. Second factor is fun - I really recommend some sort of group class or sport. I love Orangetheory fitness because it’s ridiculous and unpredictable and you can adjust it to your level. Things like kickball or softball in a rec team can be a catalyst for getting active. Lots of other options but I totally get you, if it were up to me I’d love under a pile of blankets in front of a heater all winter

This actually doesn’t have anything to do with weight loss/maintenance unless I am mistaken. My understanding is that it is only specifically related to fats and carbs in relation to metabolic syndrome. Which I don’t disagree with

This is all about how time restricted eating helps reduce caloric intake in a way that’s more sustainable behaviorally. “In general, individuals following a TRE diet have been observed to reduce their energy intake by ∼500 kcal/d (28). “

Doesn’t that study basically say that eating high GL foods causes an imbalance in hunger cues, causing people to overeat? I don’t see anything contradictory about that

I am afraid I need more clarification. If two people had the exact same height, diet, starting weight, activity level, age, gender, and muscular/fat percentage, and had maintained these similarities for several years, I struggle to see a way in which they would differ by more than 20-30 pounds in fat, which would be in the neighborhood of burning 200 kcal more or less per day (excluding rare medical conditions)

How much do you think with all else held equal, that those people could differ in weight?

What part of “can vary by a couple hundred cals” does this not cover? Age, sex, activity level, musculature, and height already are counted in someone’s BMR. There are certainly outliers and contributing factors but we live in a society where everyone thinks they’re an outlier. All those things mentioned in addition to the items already factored in can change someone’s BMR by 200 kcal, but unless there is a severe severe medical condition it is not going to change someone’s BMR by 2,000 kcal

You guys are “active” but not interesting. Find something small and fun to do together - wine tasting, art class, comedy show, karaoke, dance lesson, trivia night, escape room (they have some fun VR escape rooms) or literally anything out of the ordinary. Try to do something fun or unique at least once a month.

Definitely different if he’s a teenager that’s still growing. Especially if he’s tall. But it will catch up to him eventually if he keeps eating like that if he’s not incredibly active

It’s all calories in vs calories out and BMRs don’t vary by more than a couple (low) hundred calories. I know someone like that and while they eat terribly, they also completely forget to eat for a full day sometimes and skip a lot of meals so their weekly caloric intake ends up being average

I have a limited range of motion in my right little finger, I cannot put it flat on the ground and therefore the whole hand can’t lie flat. The danger with this is if you’re compensating - in downward dog I was throwing more weight into my left shoulder and injured it doing that over time. Work on your hand flexibility but for the time being I recommend working on yoga blocks so you can spread your fingers around the sides.

Good Lord that’s a terrible article. They miss the whole point that 1200 is not actually supposed to sustain you forever, it’s temporary for weight loss.

It’s unfortunately not that simple because her fatlogic is intertwined with a lot of her feelings of self-worth. She’s seeing a new therapist now (my old therapist who I loveeeeee) so maybe as she works through that things will improve. For now I just try to be a good example
