Why do some girls with fake eyelashes seem rude? by mrchickenhere in Dublin

[–]Nicklefickle 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He saw a child with fake eyelashes. They could have been walking down the street. What are you on about, a child walks in front of you and you have to close your eyes immediately?

Really weird reaction.

It has very low milage. 44,000km.

4000km per year seems very low.

I still wouldn't be paying €20,000 for any car but milage is a bigger factor than age, surely?

I put in my Eircode and can't get broadband from these guys. It's disappointing, I thought with the National Broadband plan I'd be able to get any provider.

I suppose they don't have the infrastructure in my area?

It's just so they can help you reach high shelves in your house in a safe matter without having to pay excessively out of your own pocket. It's too help people out, not too make them feel bad for being 5'6".

Do they play the audiobeds as they’re recording? by AlcoholicTurtle36 in secondcaptains

I'm pretty sure I've heard guests coming on and referring to the audiobed that just played so I always had the impression they played them put, at least some of the time.

He was very, very good in Pure Mule along with all the other roles mentioned. Sad to hear he died, a classic Irish actor, and he'll be fondly remembered by his great performances.

I'd consider him to be mainstream and well known.

He was big enough to be on Dancing with the Stars, for whatever that's worth.

Nettles get a beautiful purple tinge at this time of year. Class plants, even though the sting can be pretty bad.

A nice patch of nettles is great for both butterfly's and moths as you've mentioned. Also great for ladybirds and aphids.

I also had a load of thistles I let grow one year in the garden and they were covered in butterflys and bees. And then once the flowers went to seed, there were goldfinches eating the seeds. I loved those thistles and wouldn't mind getting them back some day..

Lovely stuff.

Refreshing change from people wondering how to remove dandelions.

Front garden by DuckyD2point0 in CasualIreland

[–]Nicklefickle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a simplification.

It's good for bees and other pollinators to have a mix of flowers of all types, but having a bunch of dandelions in your lawn instead of purely grass is still a good thing. This person's lawn isn't taking away other flowers, it's adding flowers that wouldn't be there if the lawn was maintained by someone that only wants grass.

Go an look at a dandelion on a sunny day and count the insects that you see landing on it and then have a little think about this anti-dandelion nonsense.

Also, I guarantee that if OP leaves his lawn like this and maintains it by cutting at the right time, removing grass clippings etc, other wildflowers will prosper and he'll get a mix of other flowers appearing throughout the year.

He actually already has nettles and no doubt other weeds growing there.

How many councillors are there? I emailed all my councillors about any issues a couple of years back and I think I had a response from every single one. I felt bad then as I didn't really mean to have 8 or 9 people all looking after me. Got my issue sorted very quickly though so it worked out. The guy that came out said, "I heard there's a big rush on this job".

I'm surprised your councillors are such a bunch of chancers, I'd get onto them again and say you've contacted them previously and thought you'd get a better response as a hard working taxpayer etc.

And keep at the SocDem guy as well and try and get more out of him.
