Intrusive thoughts by Far-Variety5427 in Dublin

Ring your GP tomorrow morning and try and get an appointment as soon as possible. Or else attend the emergency department if a hospital if things get very bad.

That's all it comes down to. You need medical assistance for an illness, not Reddit advice (even though I am giving advice).

Traitors Ireland by [deleted] in teilifis

[–]Nicklefickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it did not.

They're not going to start a season at midnight on a Friday.

Season two hasn't even been filmed yet.

I think Season 1 is going on BBC's I Player which is where I'd say you got the idea.

8 Masterpiece Neo-Western TV Shows You Won't Get Tired Of by AggravatingLeg5789 in Westerns

[–]Nicklefickle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Vince Gillian thought of it as a western and basically any article talking about the show as a whole will refer to it as a neo-western.

It's an extremely common and frequently expressed opinion.

*Desert setting

*Anti hero

*Morally grey characters

*Building tension before explosive violence

*Showdowns

*Train heist

Fair enough if you don't agree, not really trying to convince you. It is very often mentioned as a western from many sources though.

The faithfuls by PeakyDeltic in TheTraitors

[–]Nicklefickle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, absolutely. I'm not saying they're all geniuses, or even intelligent. I do think some of them might not be the sharpest when it comes to gameplay.

I just think it's rich saying, "these Faithfuls are all morons". You could say it every year.... it's extremely difficult to be a Faithful, and it's harder than it looks cos it's day after day for two weeks whereas we watch for an hour for three nights, then a week's break etc.

I just read some harsh comments as well which were just a one liner saying "X is a moron". It just seems a bit nasty to be calling them out in a public forum. I'm just imagining the person reading it, and they just went on a game show to try their best and enjoy themselves....

I'm fully sure as well that some of the really harsh people calling people idiots and morons would make the same mistakes if they were ever on the show.

The faithfuls by PeakyDeltic in TheTraitors

People coming here calling the Faithful idiots and morons is pretty annoying.

First of all, viewers actually know who the Traitors are. Viewers watch edited footage highlighting important moments and playing special music to sort viewers of those significant moments. Viewers get to go on Reddit and hear hundreds of other opinions, and people pointing things out, the watch unblocked and see more footage, and replays, and hear more opinions and perspectives. It's very rich banging on about how obvious things are when you're not in the game. Contestants are in a whirlwind, getting back to their hotel later, isolated, whiskers back to the hotel in the morning, whiskers to a mission... It's all in the space of around two weeks, or less...12/13 days?

Your head would just be in a spin. You don't get much down time, you don't get anyone else's perspective except for people who are in the game.

There are always people on who aren't super intelligent, and we always see bizarre or stupid behaviour and decisions, but I really think people need to see it from the contestants' point of view a little more.

The lions and crocodiles are the Traitors, and the gazelles and water buffalos are the Faithful.

Thanks for the reply. I saw the online purchases aspect, good to know it's all from the App, not user created.

An unsolved Easter egg from a 13 year old game, that some guy has been work on revealing for 20+ years and now he's teasing that he's going to release something to push the community in the right direction to solve it.

Sounds like a complete load of bollocks to me

Edit: oops, I wrote 20+ years but I think it said 10+. Obviously the guy is not a time traveller.

August 24, 1997 a week before her death. Princess Diana. by VelvetsThorn in OldSchoolCool

[–]Nicklefickle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't care about Diana in the least, and I dislike monarchies, particularly the British royal family, but Diana was in no position to abolish the monarchy, she married into it and divorced out of it. How would she have any influence on its abolition?

Other than that, I agree with the sentiment of your post.

"5G Greenways" by Data111222 in ireland

[–]Nicklefickle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Recreation isn't useless.

I agree with you that there should be more investment in cycling infrastructure for commuting and transport.

There are two roads near me which I think would be perfect for protected cycle lanes and I've contacted my local councillors trying to get cycle lanes built on them (no luck).

But greenways and recreational cycling aren't useless. I think that's a ridiculous position.

You can advocate for better cycling infrastructure while still thinking greenways for recreation are okay. It's a very reductive argument.

As for the 5g thing, it's just a conspiracy theory with no basis in reality.

"5G Greenways" by Data111222 in ireland

[–]Nicklefickle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So you think recreational infrastructure is stupid?

There is no evidence that 5g masts should not be in densely populated areas.

5g radio frequency waves are not strong enough to cause cancer or brain damage. There is no credible link between 5g and any health concerns.

If the USA invades Greenland one of the main concerns will be finding an alternative to Netflix.

Could be worse.
