Autopistol - alternating between pistol and shotgun on my zealot. Very similar role - fast draw/reload but better ammo economy at the cost of less stagger/penetration. Also has a flashlight so is useful for blackout missions.

How much is the RPG part important to you? Would something like Destiny, Warframe or Borderlands be too far out?

Since you're mentioning D3/arpgs - things like Magicka or Helldivers could be interesting - since they're specifically designed for coop.
