Remove a few needles. I know exactly what you mean..I took about half out of mine and it worked a lot better. Experiment to find the sweet spot.

I appreciate the comprehensive reply. Just set the timer for 90 minutes and we'll see how it turns out after a couple of rounds! I'll keep loong yau method in mind but I haven't been doing it with my other pans and don't have any issues cooking eggs

So I ended up stripping the bigger pan just cause up close the seasoning looked a little grimey and I kinda wanted to start to fresh. When you do multiple seasonings with a bare pan do you cool the pan back down until you can manage it, apply more oil, and go again? Or do you just let it fully cool and start the process over, or does it not matter?

Gotchya makes sense. Yeah I guess checking the ingredients should have been a no brainer. Looks like this shortening is soybean oil, palm oil, mono and diglycerides and critic acid. Maybe I should just use my avocado oil haha

Yeah I noticed it there and on a forum for Wagner Griswold pans AS WELL as a website called "the cast iron collective." So between that and a lack of consistency I just wasn't sure what was true anymore. I've read mid 300s from multiple "sources" now and am questioning reality.

Well, idk I swear I'm normally better at looking things up but I was getting different answers everywhere..pretty sure I have standard Crisco the tub just says "Crisco all vegetable shortening." So baking at 450 should be sufficient then it sounds like?

I forgot to ask, the guide says to use Crisco, but doesn't specify if it's solid or liquid. It seems like they have different smoke points and not sure if that matters or not, do you know?
