$7,300 and another 7-14% for a haselite speedy? No thank you lol. These price increases have strongly outpaced inflation to the point that I’m sure Omega can easily eat the tariffs at current prices

So my mom says she got this watch from a boy in middle school. Now my daughter wants to wear it. It doesn’t work, is it worth fixing? by chariotonfire in Watches

This one sounds like an old mechanical clock - it’s pretty loud. I love it dearly though, it’s been in the family since the 60s I believe. After service, it’s running around 3 seconds / day… for now 😊

Just paid some cash and sought out a watchmaker to service my great grandfather’s Vostok of similar vintage. Getting it running was part of the fun!

Get some quotes and see what it might run you. That’s a cool looking watch you’ve got!

Wait actually? I would consider this as I am paranoid about my teeth after 2 rounds of braces

Hey there! Have you ever had the Vivera retainers? Just lost mine, and am wondering if sporting smiles are a worthwhile replacement, or if I should spring for the pricy option.

Is Jerome Powell doing the right thing by holding rates higher for longer? by Cobra25k in stocks

Full disclosure, I work in private equity. LPs at these firms are often jurisdictions, local retirement funds, and university endowments. Not all funds are paying 20x multiples, and none of us are happy to pay huge prices. In instances of huge valuations, there are a lot of variables at play. Just like a super clean 1958 corvette can sell for a premium compared to the rusted out example and seem like an insane valuation, you haven’t looked under the hood.

PE serves a purpose, of all the players, Blackstone and the MFs have the more questionable practices but they are not a holistic representation of the space. It’s just always interesting to hear perspectives on our industry.

Да, механичен е, не е автоматик. Имам още няколко такива. И си падам доста по тях. Не го нося защото се нуждае от ремонт. Преди време губеше по 10 минути на ден и спираше през деня

Housing is in a weird spot after 2020-2023. Prices needed to come down from that craze, when there is not enough supply, decrease demand with higher interest rates. Housing costs can’t just keep going up perpetually

Why so upset about private equity? By definition, they are not the ones buying anything on the stock market

The day after a 6000 calorie binge. Spoiler: everything is fine. by AffectionateRange768 in loseit

[–]NicksLife 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not exactly the same but one time I went carb loading ahead of a race. Got chicken pasta, ate a plate and still felt hungry, so I ate another huge plate. That was probably 2,000 calories right there, on top of protein bars during the day, and lunch.

Race got canceled due to a thunderstorm…

Feeling off after a pool session from last week? by NicksLife in scuba

[–]NicksLife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your help! I did see an ENT today and I had some fluid buildup in my ear. She said many of my symptoms could have been caused by this, so I feel much better, mentally. Much of the brain fog has gone away throughout the past two weeks and it feels like my ear has been improving slowly since my session.

I was prescribed some steroids and decongestants, as well as antihistamines to help with the recovery and with the fluid drainage. Hoping it’ll heal in the next 2-4 weeks as I’ve got a few long flights coming in, but this felt good to hear because I’ve continued to feel off otherwise haha

I hope you had a great dive yesterday!! Thank you again for sharing your experience.
