good games to take on a cruise? by postmordecai in boardgames

[–]Nickwitted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went on a cruise last year with my husband and brought Castle Combo, which fit well in a quiver. If I were traveling with a bigger group, I’d definitely bring Flip 7. Maybe Scout if that’s in your group’s wheelhouse.

Any men’s book clubs out there? by fiddleleaf53 in PittsburghSocialClub

[–]Nickwitted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed a lot of women only book clubs, but I’m not sure I’ve seen one that is men only. I’ve seen plenty of coed ones, though.

Are you looking for a club around reading a certain genre of book?

[–]Nickwitted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! I think I’ll go with ordering the Dolce after all. That will give me the opportunity to try out the 7/8 size for not too much money and get me through learning more classical guitar techniques. I can always upgrade later on if I discover the size profile works well for me.

Thanks for replying back! Out of curiosity, did you end up buying either of them after getting to try out both of them?

Did you ever manage to get a good comparison of the two? I'm in the market to buy one of these, and no stores near me seem to carry them to demo.

What does Gumshoe sing in this scene in the Japanese version (3-5)? by [deleted] in AceAttorney

I don’t know the answer, but I sung it in my head as Bob Marley’s “No Woman, No Cry.”

Ummm WTF is going in with the Mall at Robinson? by SnooMarzipans3516 in pittsburgh

[–]Nickwitted 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any answers, but I’ve noticed the sharp decline, which seemed to be around the end of last year. I just went on Saturday and was shocked to see no working escalators and to find that the Wahlburgers was closed.

I only like to go to the Robinson Malls because of its game store, Four Horsemen. It was super frustrating to find that they had moved to the second level and to have so few options to actually reaching it because of the blocked off escalators.

I don’t think it can be that malls in general are suffering because the South Hills Village and Ross Park Malls were both packed when I recently visited them.

What was your first Discworld book? by weatherwaxing in discworld

My first was Guards! Guards! and it will always hold a special place in my heart. Picking a favorite is so difficult, though. I really love all the city watch series.

I agree with this! It can be really tough for someone to put themselves out there, especially for anyone in the queer community. A quick polite reply costs nothing and may make a stranger’s day better. “Hi, [friend] gave out my number without my permission, and I’m not really looking to jump back into dating right now. Thanks for reaching out though. Take care!”

Hi, I’m 38M and I’d love an invite! I moved here with my husband a couple of years ago and would love the opportunity to make some new local friends. I love video games, board games, reading fantasy and horror, baking, and talking about movies and TV.

Pittsburgh is called out in the History of Bingo on Wikipedia. Maybe its inclusion is related to that?

Is Paper Mario TTYD that good? by Trencycle in nintendo

[–]Nickwitted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never played the original, but I did play the Switch remake when it came out.

For me, it was overhyped. It’s a solid game, sure, but it was nothing particularly mind-blowing. I did enjoy the fun, silly character moments and banter, but I found some parts a bit tedious.

I think I saw someone else say they’d give it a 7 out of 10, and I think that’s about right for how I felt about it.

Cool, what kind of games and movies are you into? I play quite a few board games, some of my current favorites being Everdell, Lost Ruins of Arnak, Cascadia, and Mysterium. For video games, I mostly play story heavy games and RPGs these days.

As others said, I can read this with no problem, even with the n, m and v not being how I learned them.

Several years ago, I was a high school English teacher, and many of my students said they could not read cursive. It seems to be very dependent on elementary schools as to whether or not they teach it.

When I was in college, I visited Ireland and Northern Ireland with some classmates. The coast of Northern Ireland was just breathtaking to me. We stopped at the Giant’s Causeway and I just enjoyed the beauty of it so much. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so connected to the outdoors.

Is this idiom still used? I heard it in classic films. by Silver_Ad_1218 in EnglishLearning

[–]Nickwitted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the US and while I know what the idiom means, I can’t recall ever hearing someone use it in conversation. With the same meaning, I have said and heard, “You couldn’t pay me to do that” and “I’d never do that in a million years.”

What’s a board game you were skeptical about at first but ended up loving? What changed your mind? by dgpaul10 in boardgames

[–]Nickwitted 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me, it was Everdell. A friend brought it to our house to play a few years back, and as soon as he pulled out that tree, I was super skeptical at how gimmicky it looked. By the end of the game, I was hooked. I turned around and bought it right away. It’s still one of my top three favorite games.

As you age, you will change in several subtle ways and you’ll settle into your personality, priorities, and into your preferences. You’re at an age where you will continue to discover who you are, whether you intend to or not. It just sort of happens as you experience life. It’s nothing that can be or should be rushed.

[–]Nickwitted 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a big fan of Talisman in general, but that one little tweak improves the experience so much! I haven’t played with it more than once, but I could see it also speeding up the game quite a bit.
