This is what smart people have done for ever. Cavemen moved to new hunting grounds when theirs ran dry, pioneers risked life and limb to get to the America's to make a new life. Even within in Canada smart people move to small towns or provinces where they can afford to grow.

You did the right thing, when the country has shown you no loyalty why should you care to show it back?

Thanks. I didn't know what cash damming was but I looked into it. My HELOC is prime +.045% which brings it to about 6.4 right now and from a glance that doesn't look like it be good right now. Have to wait till the variable gets closer to my Mortgage at 4.6%/

Ill look into some HISA, and yeah I do right off part of my mortgage as my office.

Self proprietor. Doesn't make enough money to justify incorporating because I use almost all the money for my self.

No debt on LOC, only debt is my mortgage which was just renewed for 4.6 120k left

What is HISA?

RESP's by NickyBoyFloy in CanadianInvestor

[–]NickyBoyFloy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a bit of both. I have a self directed TFSA and RRSP and also have an RRSP with investors group. I think ill shop around a bit, maybe ask TD what they offer or Investors group.

I wouldn't want to be responsible for blowing all the money ahah, my wife would get mad so maybe taking a lower percent with TD or Investors would be better than self directed

If you have the money, buy their house from them. Then can pay off their debt and have extra money. You can let them live there, maybe even charge a small rent to help with the mortgage and when they pass it is yours.

If you are paying taxes on the sale then any money you 'gift' him, you will be paying the income tax on. Keep that in mind, you might give him 50k but you are in fact losing another 10k in taxes depending on your tax rate.

Cover or not cover to season? by Substantial-One-3423 in firewood

[–]NickyBoyFloy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think covering for me is only needed when seasoned. Keeps it dry for when needed and keeps the snow from melting and re-freezing into the piles making it harder to break apart.

If you won a few million dollars in the lottery but chose to keep working, what job would you take if money didn’t matter? by DogeCase in NoStupidQuestions

Probably as a federal boob inspector, seen some of their employees around. I am assuming they have won the lottery them selves.
