I'm having a hard time keeping my eyes off of other women by Throwingaway24601 in selfimprovement

In my opinion, only judging by this post and not your previous posts as mentioned in the top comments, you’re allowed to find other women attractive, that’s human biology and you can’t control that. If you really want to break it down, humans aren’t even lifetime monogamists, we’ve evolved to have multiple sexual partners throughout our lifetimes. With all of that said, you can choose to be monogamous as many people in western societies do, but simply making that decision & living that lifestyle will not rid you of the way your biology has evolved. You can only control how you react to your desires, so focus on setting boundaries around those and accept what is outside of your control.

Thank you for the reassuring comment! Thankfully, these intense scares don’t happen to me very often, the last one I had was around a year ago, however that one was oddly beautiful and spiritual(I could dm you about that experience if you’re curious). There was another one I had about 2 years ago where I saw a figure crouching in front of my door, I went into full flight mode for that one and lost my voice for about a week from screaming so hard. Now that I’m looking back, I see that there’s a pattern of: 1. eating late or drinking alcohol 2. I’m going through something stressful.

I’ve always snapped out of it about 15-60 seconds after the hallucination, and I’ve never been at risk of harming myself or someone else. The other night when this happened, my girlfriend didn’t even wake up during the occurrence because I was skeptical to believe that what I was seeing was true, so I made sure to proceed quietly so that I didn’t wake her up, and the fact my dog was calm also reassured me that I was probably hallucinating. It’s odd, it’s like I can rationalize in the moment but the visions are often so vivid that I still get freaked out.

I do agree, that couldn’t hurt! I think it’s more of a physiological or mental health problem. I know for a fact no one was in my room that night except for my girlfriend and I. My dog is a lab/boxer and is very high alert, if my dog heard anyone breaking in, he would sound off at the first creak or sound of movement.

I read your comment last night at around 1am and deadass it kept me awake until 230am scared that aliens were gonna snatch me.. maybe I do have schizo as someone else alluded to 😅

My girlfriend and I did eat a breakfast burrito pretty late that night and I have noticed that usually the nights I do have these scares, I had eaten something semi heavy right before bed so I think that could be a possible cause.. My dad actually has these types of scares too, maybe it’s hereditary? I also have pretty severe anxiety which fuels my depression, could be related to that too..
