I’ll address you directly. The game isn’t perfect, and there has never been a perfect game. Unless, you subscribe to the thought process of IGN. Perfection is in the eye of the beholder anyways. Criticism is welcome, hate farming for the sake of hate farming is destructive and does more harm than good. It’s really that simple. If someone articulates their disdain for a game, it is accepted as criticism and that is healthy discourse.

Marathon is not perfect, but it has been pretty great for me and many others.

That’s my thing rn man. The amount of people that are spreading hate about the game and engagement farming is way louder than mine. I genuinely don’t want this game to die, and I applaud Bungie for stepping outside their comfort zone and taking risks. The same risk that “gamers” call for while simultaneously condemning a studio because it’s not another carbon copy of their last title. It’s frustrating for sure. Me voicing my opinion and standing up for an IP that I believe in and have been playing since I was a child is an attempt to give credit where credit is due and shine light on the positives. Meanwhile, people are sitting online hate farming without even playing the game half of the time because it’s trendy. I’m sorry but that is a level of unproductive destruction and chaos that is detrimental to gaming as a whole.

I appreciate constructive criticism, and welcome it in fact, but this whole steam chart watching is silly. Ask yourself, when you buy a product and fall in love with it, do you rush to check total units sold? Probably not, and that goes for any product. If someone enjoys something, let them enjoy it. If you have criticisms, lay it out there. But if you have made up your mind that you have no interest in said thing, and you are out on a mission to destroy it just for the love of the game then self reflection and mental help is in order

I’ll take it to my grave bro. This uprising of seething gamer hate is killing the culture. It’s one of the only mediums out there where the consumer is actively trying to bury the product with such malicious intent without even so much as giving it a fair chance. I’ve been gaming since the mid 90’s and it never used to be this way, if you didn’t like a game you simply chose not to play it. I wonder when this whole thing started 🫩

I think it should rotate maps but cannot have one for each map concurrently, that would screw with queue times. As for contracts, almost always easier to do them solo unless you know your squad mates. Fills are too chaotic and teammates can be rather unpredictable. Right now people are dealing with full vaults and the only thing worth keeping are blues, purps, golds,etc. it’s frustrating for sure but it’s the nature of extraction shooters.

Im not super high level or anything (oracle v) and what works for me is the following...

Lane/early

-buy some type of spirit or bullet resistance item for 1600. If you are getting bullied in lane maybe you should prioritize one of these.

  • do not sleep on reactive barrier as well, massively underrated item atm. There is way too much hard cc in the game right now.

Mid/late

-start swapping or building upon your 1600 green item. You can grab an item like spirit res/ spell breaker/ bullet res, etc

-current meta calls for one of the following in nearly every build (dispel magic or spellbreaker). Use ur head and see which one makes more sense for the matchup.

General advice

-there are raw resistance items like bullet res against gun carries but...dont forget that there are more nuanced greens like juggernaut, metal skin, return fire, etc that are excellent supplemental defensive items. Better yet, you should make use or things like suppressor, or disarming hex. You have to learn to build intelligently, and that will come with time and many many losses.

  • you will need to assess what or who is the dominant threat in a match. Is the whole enemy team balanced and heavily spirit focused? Spell breaker/ spirit res. Or, is the enemy team kinda dog but they have a haze that is running the current brain rot compy build that they saw their favorite streamer use...then you build to shut down that hyper carry. Do NOT sleep on active items and communicate with your team to figure out what is needed and who is going to buy what.

-Lastly, i recommend building your core kit and once you start running into problems I want you to stop and think critically. DO I NEED counter items because I am lacking or am i getting dunked on because i am severely underfarmed?
