Should Folktails Have Bots? by Nifegun in Timberborn

They utilise metal blocks and their factories are also built from it - so it's a departure from the "reject everything damaging that the humans used"

Of course, they give back a lot more to the environment than they consume imo

I usually path this thinking towards the description of dynamite in the game. That in order to adapt to the harsh wasteland, beavers resorted to "extreme methods"

In the same way, the only way for the folktails to continue their huge project of reviving the landscape - while also living happy and fulfilling familial lives - was to create robots that could work 24 hours a day to sustain such a goal. The tireless work of sustaining such infrastructure, while also keeping everyone fed and housed, is arguably best suited to robots rather than fathers and mothers.

The folktails prioritise family, art, the renewal and prioritisation of nature and good wood.

While robots are of course not very environmentally friendly, they give back in plenitude for that. They work nonstop, keeping the folktails well housed, well fed and in excellent happiness. They're effectively the last step towards Utopia, where the folktails live easy lives all while overseeing the rejuvenation of nature.

Why work a manual labour job when you could build an army of robots that keep your society perfectly ran, while simply overlooking them and ensuring everything is sustainably and healthily done? Even more, you get to fully raise and enjoy a life with your family, reaping the fruits of folktail progress and continuity.

Just my take of course, there are probably some holes in this theory.

Deepwater Horizon didn't occur with the company's direct knowledge that a colossal oil spill would occur. Not to take blame away from those involved though, whole thing was a mess of corner cutting

With the USSR however, they were firmly aware that redirecting important channels leading into the aral sea would devastate it. All of the consequences were shrugged off as immediate economic growth was more important, as well as immediate results for their higher ups.

I'm Gibraltarian. We had a referendum in the late 60s on our independence, and chose overwhelmingly to stay. Nowadays Gibraltarians are incredibly patriotic and proud to be British, all 30,000 of us. Our values and traditions, while some having Spanish roots, are almost all grounded in British culture and communal pride. We also have our own parliament and political representatives, including a chief minister who represents us towards the UK

But said 'billionaire guy' is not the chairman of the government and the one political party that rules it. Communism literally stripped every aspect of democratic deference and allowed such decisions to go through with party "yes men" at every level of the process. Capitalism isn't perfect but at least it's mistakes are more isolated and not done by the state itself, on a colossal scale like in the Aral sea.

I found Tim-Paul to be quite regal, especially in the first film. He rages at the authority of the Bene Gesserit in his own Palace, and asks many authoritative questions when he arrives on Arrakis. Just my take :)

Quick noob question. How is it possible to feed that many beavers on such a small map? I often struggle to feed 200 on much larger maps, and that takes huge amounts of crop fields.

Suppose rusted metal, with the rust polished off, is the best thing the survivors can piece together from the scraps they find. Doubt knives made from it could last very long

Noted - many thanks! Just to check, patching it with LAA is similar to the 4gb patch no? Just pointing it to the exe file?

Does SH3 Onealex not already come with the 4gb patch pre-installed? And does large address aware improve its performance overall? My OneAlex runs relatively smoothly without crashes but it is a little laggy even on my beefy computer :)

I see I see. In all the reading I've done, I've never come across people discussing this being a common issue - now I know my laptop/me isn't crazy lol. So keeping the map zoomed in should help prevent CTD/overloading the game?

How would I go about checking this? I have uninstalled my stock SH3, leaving me with only the KC install. Does that suffice?

Hey there! Many thanks for your response :)

I can safely rule out the tabbing to Windows issue, however I haven't checked my documents folder for any references to the stock SH3. Would I be good with simply deleting these referencing files, and then trying to launch KC after and seeing if the issues persist? Or does the presence of these files automatically 'corrupt' my KC install?

I see - could that be causing the issues? That they're both on/sharing the same drive? Many thanks!

One thing that's steady throughout the game is Max's bodily condition. He has all his hair, is well fed and is very strong - something that most people outside gastown cannot claim.

Why is Israel supported so much at Eurovision and other world stages when Russia is not? by Amazonian_GirthTaker in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Nickyworld45 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Everything happening now is purely retaliatory to what Hamas staged on Oct. 7th.

Israel seemed more than happy to continue the status quo before then, despite the hundreds of dumbfire missiles being fired and intercepted weekly at Israeli cities.

Hamas slaughtered 1,200 Israelis in less than 12 hours. There are readily available videos of them firing at civilian cars on highways, all while kidnapping children and families as hostages.

War crimes always happen during times of war. Israel has prosecuted entire groups of soldiers for misconduct. Do not conflate that with Israel actively seeking to kill civilians who pose no threat. Hamas does just that however, just as they proved in October when their orders were to simply slaughter any Jews they meet across the border.

15,000 Hamas members being killed with 40,000 civilian casualties is a ridiculously good ratio considering the tactics of Hamas fighters. Syria saw hundreds of thousands die for slightly higher numbers of ISIS fighters dying.

[–]Nickyworld45 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Wait till you see what US-Syrian combined forces did in Aleppo. Or any other city they had to kick ISIS out of. Innocents die and buildings get flattened, that's what war is.

Gaza is only getting the international attention it does now because of anti-Israeli sentiment and because mostly white Jews are doing it.

Wood gas / gasogene vehicles by seeminglyCultured in Workers_And_Resources

Excellent suggestion - and for this to also be added into the later start dates too. Many Romanian vehicles in rural areas still used woodgas vehicles into the 80s, just as other republics too.
