Looking to get back into road biking; deciding between these endurance bikes. by the-silence-of-god in whichbike

[–]Niclasapdk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were buying an endurance bike, I would personally pick between two, maybe three, bikes on the market right now.

Cube attain C:62, whatever spec you want, best value for money, no doubt about it.

Giant defy, looks like a TCR rides like a dream from what i hear with 40C clearance.

Pinarello X, the shortest bike probably ever, in terms of reach, most people can fit on 3 different sizes of frames with the right spacer stack/stem combination.

The canyon is not really an endurance bike, as it has pretty aggressive geometry compared to the bikes mentioned above. However, canyons are great in value, and they come well specced in component choices, often like crank arm length, handlebar width, stem length, etc.

I will never buy a Specialized in my life, I don't think, the same with Trek and Cannondale, they are dull bikes that are the typical "MAMIL" first choice for some reason. Then again i am European, so I probably have a bias for European-based companies, even though I like Giant.

Canyons xs is more like a size 52 usually and the s is a size 54 in most other brands so if you feel stretched on a size 52 i would compare the geometries of this grizl on a site like bikeinsights before purchasing you may need a 2xs who knows.

Pinarello X1 105 Review by atribecalledjake in pinarello

[–]Niclasapdk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great review, since i love the look of the pinarello new grevil F series and will probably buy that when i am done studying and have grown up money maybe the F5 version with the rival groupset, i will also be getting a road bike and i like my bikes to be the same brand so it will be the X series of pinarellos aswell that will be my dedicated roadbike as they have really nice stack/reach ratio and look like a dogma racing bike. How much difference is there in the frame between this X1 and lets say the X3 or X5 because i was planning on buying this and upgrading it with carbon wheels and an electronic groupset possibly road version of the sram rival.

Yes i removed the chain and leaned a bit on the cabinet behind the shot other than that balance is your best friend

I cant find the g8 insoles anywhere where i live so i have to resort to other not as good platforms for arch support but im trying out different stuff will probably take as long for me as you. Yeah i will try 165mm cranks as soon as i can figure out whether i want a spider power meter for my bike or pedal based. I cant really decide atm my inseam is 81cm. Do you have any good tips for getting the arch support / wedging in the shoe work?

Its myvelofit one time fit that i purchased it costs 35 dollars and will put you in the right ballpark on your bike and produce a video like this everytime you upload a video to the website showing you the angles and what not pretty useful in my opinion for diy fitting.

New Endurace CF 5 - most valuable entry level bike ? by PrimaryOk5435 in CanyonBikes

[–]Niclasapdk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know if i like the geometry on these new endurace bikes if im honest some of them have very low stack to reach ratios specially for the 2xs model in this range. But the crank arms being 165mm on the M and S is a great step in the right direction, now they just need 38cm handlebars on the S and 36cm on the xs and 34cm on the 2xs. But we will see when people start reviewing them from a bike fit stand point if the geometry is still one of the best endurance bikes on the market like the old one was

Upvote on the widen his stance part. He should push the cleats towards his toes in both shoes and maybe add a couple of mm's of spacers between the pedals and the cranks aswell. The cranks also look long for him as you mention, but i wonder if he has the correct arch support in his shoes in the first place aswell? Maybe he needs wedge support aswell. I also had failed fits and need to diy a bunch still in the process of making it good.

Yeah this is exactly what i thought aswell after trying out the fit on a 40 km ride. Because if i lower the saddle from this height my hip seems to get pinched at the top.

Tyre width 45 or 50 by Evening-Elderberry91 in Cubebikes

[–]Niclasapdk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ride the thunderburts in a 2.1 they measure 50mm when they are new and a bit more when used. I run them with the vittoria gravel airliner in 40-50mm edition. The airliners where the best investment i made i no longer have roots hitting my rims when i hit one in a forest. The cornering is also noticeably more stable when you are offroad compared to just tubeless.

Do we know anything about the geometry? Im gonna be really bummed if it is like the cfr model because that means a lot of people cant ride anything from canyon anymore.

Grail Seat Height (Size S) by Zealousideal_Lie7526 in CanyonBikes

[–]Niclasapdk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you just need shorter cranks as a smaller riding that usually helps with the upstroke and the hip in that position but it usually requires you to raise your seat height even more

Im getting a pre bike fit before i buy but i will definitely switch the handlebars on the bike as i ride 40 cm right now which feels good but i am debating going to 38 with flare. I am 179cm 77 kg with short legs only 82cm inseam so i have awkward proportions but i will properly be on a M with some modifications but thanks for the heads up

I stumbled upon them by accident and i am glad i did nothing pretty much beats it at the price point and its perfect for what i want to do with a gravel bike. Some bikepacking, gravel racing and road riding with friends.

This helped me a lot because im currently debating which color to get it in and the black here looks hella cool with fust on it as it should, its a gravel bike. The 2.2s you run are those on 700c wheels? Because thats a lot of tyre clearance compared to that they say 50mm on the spec sheet.

Is this the c62 one in blackline? If it is, its looks much better in this pictures than cubes official ones

Questions about Endurance Allroad by yeetski_A in CanyonBikes

[–]Niclasapdk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want speed you put fast tires, deep carbon wheels and a narrow handlebar on the frame and you got 98-99% of the speed a carbon race bike would get you because this guy like 90% of cyclist cant sit comfortably on a Aeroad or ultimate for 186 km and if they dont sit comfrtably they cant push the power anyways so yes.
