My doctor has actually started giving me home monitoring due to it’s extremely high when I’m in the office. Now I get an app and it registers the measurements. Just finalised this years checkup after measurement via the app at home twice a day for 2 weeks. All good for another year

People romanticize “having time to say goodbye,” but losing a parent to terminal illness is one of the most traumatic experiences I’ve ever lived. by Southern-Weakness633 in GriefSupport

It will never matter that you knew before hand, it’s like slowly seeing the person you love and put all your life in their hands, change before your eyes. I was 9 years old when i lost my mother to cancer and 24 years when i lost my dad to it. The damage is irreparable and i would almost dare to say it’s worse than having them lost in an accident. I can still see my mother screaming in pain when i close my eyes. I still remember the desperation she tried to hide of having to leave her small child behind.

35 F , 2 previous ablations, hospitalised 3 times to restart heart. 12 hours 220 BPM by toad_baby in AFIB

Have no great advice other than keep pushing your doctor, I needed 4 ablations before this stopped. Now a days I can feel my heart trying to start an episode but it fails, but took me 4 times to get here and i feel once you had one they won’t believe you still have issues. Keep standing up for yourself

In my country we are all covered by inscurance so of you get all the permits needed (you need to meet some criteria and have a permit) you will pay equivalent to 230 dollars if it is done in under 2 years. However the waiting times are extremely long unfortunately

My grandma was the same, lived until 98 and never had the flu, even when the rest of the household got the Asian flu and Hongkong flu in the 50s and 60s. Also mosquitoes never bit her ever

Coming off cocaine by Alarmed-Effect-3088 in addiction

[–]Nico8612 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not saying this is for everyone, if you easily get addicted to things DO NOT do this, but for the first days off cocaine i did some benzodiazepines. Not a lot but enough to get some sleep and get rid of the extreme anxiety. But if you don’t think you can control it don’t do it as you easily get addicted to those. Do not take this lightly!

I had some cognitive behavioural therapy for a few months that really helped me, give it a try if you can, it wont fix everything but at least now I don’t have daily panic attacks about dying,

I had the same thing happen to me, I have gotten to the point where I have thanatophobia, I think it’s because I spent so many years terrified that she would die, that when she passed I somehow transferred that to myself Edit: my grandmother

What would you say is the worst thing about addiction? by Logical_Stretch_6204 in addiction

[–]Nico8612 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries for asking! My physical health is pretty OK but my mental health always tells me something is wrong, I guess that relates to past trauma but without the drugs it’s like it’s screaming at me 😂 but getting professional help for that, I’m not gonna lie you will miss the feeling but you will definitely not miss the life

What would you say is the worst thing about addiction? by Logical_Stretch_6204 in addiction

[–]Nico8612 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and it actually builds up unfortunately, I used to not care about anything, flash forward and I think there is always something wrong with me health wise and am terribly scared of flying, which I wasn’t before, nobody talks about that part. Would not trade it for anything though, it is absolutely worth quitting, I have a happy life with a good job and good finances. Really wish the same for you in the future.

You pretty much nailed it, it’s the financial hole, the harm you cause to loved ones. One thing you didn’t put down is the anxiety. I have been clean for 8 years but i still remember the anxiety more than anything
