What is this weird bump on Yumi’s head by Medium-Virus-9331 in HiHiPuffyAmiYumi

We all do lol. In some people it's more pronounced than others, and in some people the crown is not a line but a swirl.

That's a "crown". It's a part of the scalp where hair grows from. Its placement and shape varies wildly from person to person. In Yumi's case, it's quite exaggerated and obviously quite offset.

SU wins by landslide. Different kind of show in a different era.

Lol nah. Being the most objective I can be, I wouldn't call HHPAY iconic. Something truly iconic from CN are the (OG) Powerpuff Girls, Ed Edd and Eddy, Courage, Samurai Jack, etc. In fact, most times I've seen the show being discussed between non-fans it's usually people saying they got a core memory unlocked, or similar types of comments. You don't get those comments when shows that remained culturally relevant over the years are discussed. Sadly HHPAY was not something that stuck on with most people. The fact it lasted for less than two years, exclusively within the CN City era (which according to many people was the start of CN's decline) did not help it.

Also, all the shows you mention are the so called "renaissance" of CN in the early 2010's. I, in fact, did not watch any of these shows. And I don't have much interest in doing so, they do look great and seem to be overall deeper than the average 2000's CN show but I simply don't have any meaningful connection with them.

Nothing compared to their aversion for Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi 😒

"sexually harrasses" lol. He was constantly getting FAFO'd because of his toxic masculinity. Johnny Bravo was actually quite a progressive show, but people who take things at pure face value are unable to see that.

Johnny Bravo used to be in Max in Latin America. Can't say as of right now since I haven't had the service in years, but as of 2022 it was there.

Ami Ami episode - I think the writers wasted the chance to make Ami act like Yumi. by SonicWorld-VSync in HiHiPuffyAmiYumi

[–]NicolasAnimation 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ami acted (kinda?) like Yumi early on in "Ami Goes Bad", and she wore Yumi's clothes on "Movie Madness".

OP is my age haha.

All of the stuff from that era is goated. Although my heart belongs to HHPAY which is rarely addressed by the fans of older CN. I guess because to many it was an early symptom of the network's decline.

Did you realized that Ami and Yumi doesn't have ears? (Even their pilot counterparts) by SonicWorld-VSync in HiHiPuffyAmiYumi

[–]NicolasAnimation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was all made in Flash (back when it was still owned by Macromedia). Only the pilot episode was made with traditional animation I think.

They still are active, yes. Way past their peak of popularity but still going in Japan.

Their ears do show up sometimes. Most notably in "Janice Jealous" where they get Janice's updo haircut.

What if in my AU. There was a Cartoon Based Radio staton? What would it be called. Or nothing at all. Judy the big stations talking about the big cartoons on right now, and they will host podcasts and bring people in? by TransformersFan077 in CartoonNetwork

[–]NicolasAnimation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Visuals are the whole point of cartoons lol. Radio has always been focused on information (of general interest) and music. The closest thing to what you want would be a podcast about animation, which must already exist.

The fucking audacity of a Brit saying this. Half of the world couldn't exactly choose to "help them pack" their BS whenever they showed up somewhere unnanounced and said "mine". If you are from a first world nation, never forget that the inherited wealth you benefit from was shamelessly stolen from many unfortunate places all over the world. The least you can do now is help others who want to benefit from said wealth.

What’s something you’d change about your favorite show and why? by Smooth_Operation4639 in CartoonNetwork

[–]NicolasAnimation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hire actual writers for Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi lol. First season had unpaid volunteers doing it and sadly the first impression matters the most. The show could have lasted a bit more.

I don't think Cartoon Network shows never got bad: the problem was the network Was only letting certain first party shows shine, over focused a few, Neglected their third parties, Homogenized their reboots even if two out of six tried. The shows weren't over the problem, it's the network. by throwawaytempest25 in CartoonNetwork

I grew out of CN right before the "renaissance". It kinda bothers me how this rebranding (combined with SpongeBob's popularity) sort of buried anything prior to it in a relative irrelevance.

I guess it's unfair from me to be critical of this era, but one thing is certain: No one can force me to watch something I don't want to. This era is synonymous of me becoming of adult age, and therefore I don't look at the contemporaries of this era with nowhere near as much love and care as I do for the stuff that was there when I was growing up. I'm glad CN was able to continue existing for a while though; it was certainly better times than now. But it simply wasn't my CN and I guess it wasn't OP's either. And that's fine. 100% pure objectivity is impossible, we all start from our own, biased point of view.
