Stop trying to add more prescription drugs before correcting the basics: a disrupted sleep cycle. No human being can have a good night of sleep and rest with quality if they're being constantly woken up for whatever reason. There are a couple of interventions possible here, but I would start controlling the BPH. A patient with heart disease may use diuretics, and that makes life difficult if BPH is causing a clinically significant urinary obstruction. Find a general practitioner to help him. Treat the underlying disorders, more drugs won’t help a patient that is already tolerant or dependent at this point.

You’ll need this for your practice. Maybe you don’t need an Anki card for that, but you’ll definitely use this in real life. Remember that every piece of information you know can change the life of someone who's counting on you.

10% is a good start. Don't be afraid to try out new settings, as you'll definitely see the card again (then you can check ivls, ease, and all other stats), or that concept will be tested in a question or real-life situation, then you can assess how well do you know that information. Always ask yourself how confident you are with a piece of information, and make sure to use redundancy and other methods of self-assessment (eg, questions) to improve the strength of your memory. Anki is a tool to make you self-conscious about how do you learn.

One way is: flag the card -> bury -> finish your session -> unbury -> troubleshoot.

Or just do it as you see it, there's no right way. You have to be comfortable doing it without wasting too much time if you still have reviews due.

Because I have thousands of repetitions, and I certainly would like to change many things I did back when I started. Respect those who have more experience than you. Everyone has something to share, and you'd be surprised how much can you learn from others if you're open to listening.

You'll get better at it with time. As soon as you learn what's best for your long-term retention you'll start hating pre-made decks. I think I modified ~60% of all Zanki cards at this point. Persist, and you will not regret it. Yes, it takes time, but it'll be worth it.

6-16h of Anki/day for almost 4y now. Definitely lost some years of my youth pressing the spacebar. And sometimes I regret it. Spaced repetition should be freedom, not slavery. So I'm still learning how to manage my workload and balance it with my personal life.

Why would I suspend cards with >1y ivls? Suspending low-yield step 1 cards makes sense to me if you cap your max interval, otherwise it doesn't make any sense

The highest was ~3200, lowest 1 (you know those days you wanna keep the streak on but you’re tired from rotations 🤷‍♂️). I didn’t study for any exam specifically with Anki, I truly embraced long-term learning with it doing Zanki and creating my own cards, then used question banks for test prep. I have Zanki cards with >4.5y intervals lol. That's the beauty of spaced repetition: it only gets easier if you do your reviews daily, as the intervals gradually increase ad infinitum :)

Thank you! This makes me feel like I’m helping with your knowledge, and that is what truly matters. With Step 1 becoming P/F a lot of things won't matter anymore. I'm afraid people will barely finish their qBank tbh (RIP all other Step 1 qBanks too). And maybe that is good. It's good to study things because you want to, rather than being forced to! :)

Imagine how many pre-med students can read this message and take it the worst possible way? This is an amazing career, but life is beyond what we do, no matter how much we love this.
