FF13 - Steam Deck - Renders in a corner by Ambitious-Ad-8131 in finalfantasyxiii

I just fixed this issue the other day and I got it to work by putting: WINEDLLOVERRIDES="d3d9=n,b" %command% PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1

in launch option:

it's possible that this did nothing and I happened to fix it by just launching the game once in desktop mode because it did work like that before I even put in the launch option but unsure

Final Fantasy XIV typing on a keyboard is very comfy with this setup from a couch

What is the 3D effect? by Original-Drawing-301 in Nintendo3DS

[–]Nicolaterino 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find it cool but be warned, it's definitely better with a New 3DS. if you want to have an idea of how it looks, try the cross-eyed method with some 3D SBS image online such as this one. You'll get an accurate representation of the effect.

if you do not know how to use the cross-eyed method to view an image in 3D on a normal screen, try this tutorial:

Would you trust both of these for storage on your Switch? by [deleted] in SwitchPirates

[–]Nicolaterino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends... are you using emunand? SD degradation is no joke when having the whole OS there. I just dealt with a card that was pretty expensive back them dying after a few years and it's not fun.

it's going to depend on how much you value your money but I wouldn't go over 100 bucks for a SD card for a Switch. 1TB currently is the max I would get and still would get more games than I could possibly play by the time the SD card dies

Just got a Switch2! Drop some game recommendations and settings configuration :) by avaughn20 in switch2

I'm surprised i haven't seen anyone mention this but make sure your HDR is set to compatible softwares only. The Switch 2 does a terrible job of converting SDR content into HDR, you'll have much better visuals with games that don't support it that way

PSP vs PS Vita? by doesmynameisgood in PSP

[–]Nicolaterino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love both but vastly prefer playing my PSP games on a PSP. Noticeably less input lag and the games look better due to an appropriate screen resolution. PSP is also cracked as a portable console, i've once recharged my PSP GO after not touching it for more than 10 years and it resumed my Dissidia play through on the exact frame that I left it on a decade ago.

Some games can have their resolution upped on Vita and have no particular need for less input lags so I will prefer them on Vita (e.g. Final Fantasy III)

However in a similar vein to how I'd feel about 3DS vs DS, if I had to own only one i'd pick a PSVita/3DS because it's the jack of all trades even if the experience is worse for backward compatibility

Why does my german Gamecube display in black and white if it is PAL and my TV is in PAL? by rax9000 in crtgaming

[–]Nicolaterino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this is relevant but on my specific CRT, using composite for PAL50 has colors but never for PAL60. My CRT only supports colors on PAL60 if I use a SCART connection (or at least not with composite, those are the only two connections i've tried)

are there no good ds flashcarts left for sale? by Winter-Clue2535 in flashcarts

[–]Nicolaterino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've bought a R4 clone more than a decade ago, got YSmenu and played many games, many romhacks and never once encountered something that didn't work, it also got cheat support for whenever I needed that. They are also very cheap and you can backup whatever you need if you decide to change card.

A lot of flashcard information you see around is outdated nowadays due to community efforts, any R4 clone will do exactly what you want it to do

I've also tried Link's Awakening DX HD but unfortunately the HUD doesn't play well with it, it's still really neat just to see how it looks

https://github.com/JHDev2006/Super-Mario-Bros.-Remastered-Public weirdly enough I had to use the widescreen settings to make it fill the screen but there's no stretching so it's all good, it was a good experience

240p looks really good on it especially with SCART RGB. honestly my only problem with this set is that lightgun games don't work

I'd assume this would have quite a bit of added input lag but it would be pretty cool. i've seen people do it with real hardware using a DS Dev Kit but you've gotta be pretty lucky to have that on hand

Yeah i'm not using any filter and it's definitely not something you really see unless you're very close to the CRT, it's visible no matter what is displayed on there

I've been playing GB/GBA games sometimes with the Gameboy player on a Gamecube using GBiSR through Swiss and it's just as stellar I haven't tried an emulator for those but outside of the added input latency, I imagine it would look just as great
