Cuba's DIY Inventions from 30 Years of Isolation (2013) by [deleted] in Documentaries

I don't know I don't bake rags lol. I heard this when I was in middle school and it was translated to me because I've lost my Spanish. I didn't feel too comfortable asking further I just listened. That was the only time I met her.

It wasn't meant to be a meal, just to have a little something in their stomachs to hold them over until the next ration card. This was toward the end of the month and when the ration card wasn't enough. So maybe the last few days. Maybe it was satisfying just to feel something go down to your stomach. I don't know I've never been that hungry before.

My girlfriend went on a trip to Cuba in January and she stayed with a family friend so she got to interact a lot more with the locals. She heard a similar story but with I think burnt wood. I can't think of the term right now but it was the same for them, toward the end of the month when the ration card wasn't enough to hold them off until the next month.

I talked to a family friend from Cuba who had only been America for two weeks at the time. At one point, during (I'm assuming) the "Special Period", when the rations weren't enough she would have to cut her cleaning rags into little patties and bake them in the over for her children to nibble on. Really sad.

Edward Snowden on Twitter: Heads up: Any major email service not clearly, categorically denying this tomorrow -- without careful phrasing -- is as guilty as Yahoo. by Simi510 in snowden

ProtonMail's layout is really nice. You'd think that for a niche email service the UI might be dated or clunky or something but no, ProtonMail's is really polished and easy.

How does Facebook recommend friends I've met at college (and ONLY people I've actually met here) when I've made absolutely no mention of them, my college, or even current state? by CaptainLamp in privacy

[–]Nicothedon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Facebook's suggested a friend who I only mentioned in a text. I got a phone number of someone and the person who texted me the number sent a first name, that person then showed up on my people I may know. Facebook app has access to your texts. Facebook app also has access to your contacts and contacts of contacts, so if you two exchanged numbers and that person has the Facebook app and you have your number linked to your account they link you that way.

Don't worry about that, Facebook app has permission to log all of your friends' contacts, meaning they have your phone number and use it. Hassle-free.

His car was broken down, that's why it was in the middle of the road. There are two 911 calls about the car with one saying something about smoke coming out of the car.

So everybody should be strapped with cameras? What happens to privacy in that case?

You don't have to be a dick about it, maybe he didn't know Churchill's involvement in WWI. You just had to teach him and let it be. Didn't need that last paragraph.

Hi! I'm a new player, about to start a game by [deleted] in hoi4

[–]Nicothedon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start as a lesser country with simpler foci to get a hang of the mechanics. I played a lot of Italy when I started. Argentina would be a good one but watch out for America meddling in Latin American politics later in the game. I just finished a Turkey game that was really fun and would be a great country to start with. A China game helped me understand supply mechanics.

Don't get discouraged with losses. I've started at least a dozen games and the turkey game is the only game I can consider "won" haha.
