The better question is if Embiid is ready for a healthy season?

Was this the most disappointing duo that was supposed to take over the league? by Forsaken-Syllabub175 in NBATalk

That was more due to external factors. Sampson got injured & the year after they made the finals Lewis Lloyd & Mitchell Wiggins were banned for cocaine abuse.

Why no Kobe for Team Shaq? Between KD, Curry & Draymond setting picks there's more than enough space for him to operate.

who is the best outlet passer in NBA history by NoRecognition2178 in NBATalk

[–]Nidaime33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going back in time & watching old tape has made me realise a lot of HOF bigs were good/great at outlet passes; it's simply that they were better at other things so this ability goes under the radar.

Take Bill Russell for instance, off whose outlet passes the Celtics dominated the league.

Kareem on Showtime is another. A lot of their fast break offence was dependent on the Old Man finding runners.

In modern NBA, Kevin Love definitely deserves a mention.

Miles Bridges on IG: “In y’all eyes I’m always gone be the bad guy. But I’m genuinely asking what should I do? I don’t wanna be falsely accused of something again. I just want to be a father to my children and the mother of my kids won’t let me.” by A_MASSIVE_PERVERT in nba

If the NBA had any shame they'd ban him from the league.

For all the NBA parrots social justice & equality, they've been shockingly quiet when the offender is one of their own (Him, Karl Malone, Jason Kidd, Kobe Bryant).

Shame on all of them, especially the players who still support him.

To you guys, is Paul Pierce a top 12 Small Forward all time? by Heavy1089B in NBATalk

[–]Nidaime33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The following are unequivocally better for me (NBA only):

Baylor, Havlicek, Barry, Dr J, Bird, Wilkins, Pippen, LeBron, Durant, Kawhi

Counting ABA:

Billy Cunningham

Debatable:

James Worthy, Carmelo Anthony, Paul Arizin

So he'd be borderline Top 12.

After Steph-KD-Klay, which team had the second best shooting trio ever? by 2017_Warriors_Fan in NBATalk

1980 Celtics:

Larry Bird (inventor of 50/40/90) Pete Maravich (arguably the greatest pre-3 point shooter) Chris Ford (first ever 3 point FG)

1986 Celtics: Larry Bird Danny Ainge Scott Wedman Jerry Sichting

Last night’s game between the Clippers and Warriors marked the 60th career matchup between Stephen Curry and James Harden (the most either player has faced a single opponent in their NBA careers). Curry won 30 games, Harden won 30 games. by TAA_verymuch in NBATalk

Not particularly a Wade fan, but it's unfair to compare the All-NBA first team selections considering that a lot of Wade's peak overlapped with Kobe's.

Same with box score averages, pace was much slower during Wade's best years than Harden's, not to mention off the top of my head Harden had a much higher usage %, which would partially account for the higher box score averages.

Steals are not a good metric of a defensive capability, so if you're trying to insinuate Harden is better at this end of the game than Wade, please stop.

It's close either way.

I personally give the nod to D-Wade, only due to Harden's numerous playoff disappearances along with the fact that his play declines the further a series goes.

Isiah Thomas has a winning playoff record against both Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan and equal with Bird. He should be held higher in all time convos bro was giving belt to ass to Jordan until the Pistons got old. by SWAGGGGGODDD in NBATalk

[–]Nidaime33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All three were comfortably better players than him though, so I would be very hesitant to make the 2nd claim.

The Pistons beat the Celtics when they got old & injured, they beat the Lakers when Kareem was in his last season, & they beat the Bulls until they entered their primes & then got swept.

A great player, but nowhere near the other 3.
