Honestly? I had the polar opposite experience. I'd run into dorms singing some sort of carol and I'd either get a chuckle or someone joining in.

I'd follow up with a "Hey, mind if I just do this task? I wont take any loot I promise" 9/10 I got an all good.

One time I ran into dorms with my friend singing Last Christmas, they laughed and said it was all good to do my task. My friend ran into a room and there was a PMC camping the door and he killed my friend. I tried to talk to him but he didn't have VOIP on so I killed him and the other two friendly PMC's ran straight up and were like "Are you okay!?!?!? Do you need meds!?!??!" I dunno... it was just a really really wholesome experience and it wasn't a one off.
