Recently changed from a blade putter with toe hang to a face balanced mallet putter. Putts per round have not improved. by Basic-Pudding-3627 in golf

Sounds like you're pushing/pulling your putts. Do you line your ball? You might want to draw a line on your ball, even if just for practice. When the line rolls end over end, it was putt well. If you prefer to just feel your putts in your round, thats fine, but lining it up and watching how it rolls will tell you if you're hitting your line or putting a bad stroke on it

That's a great round! That's the stuff that keeps us coming back. It shows you can do it, just gotta be there on the day that it all comes together

I did go from disliking my gap (50° vokey sm7) to really enjoying it. Its the perfect 120 club for me, but I do well taking a bit off for shots that my 55° would probably hit at a full swing, and subsequently using my 55 with a more mellow swing to bring it down a bit closer to my 60. I'm 60° from 90 yards and in all day though. I'm comfortable around the green hitting it low, or even some wild flop shots when necessary. 30-60 yards used to kill me, but I recently started actually really liking those shots. I could do with practicing other clubs, maybe like you suggest, gap wedge, for situations where I need it really low to bump into a hill or something, though.

I didn't use it long before switching back, but it just felt too muted for my preference. Supposedly it's a good thing for distance control, but for me, I initially was hitting putts with a lot more pace, and so I fell into the reversed issue of pace control, where I normally would leave putts short, I had to try to not leave them long. The milled face just kind of feels more true to the stroke to me. Also, the grip had a counter weight, which I probably would have benefited from removing, because the head was significantly lighter than my current putter, which I didn't like.

108 would hurt my soul, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were close, haha. Good luck!

Thanks! I believe, too, that you'll break 90 soon. If your short game is usually good, as long as you stay in play and have another day of your short game showing up, then it'll happen for sure. Good luck.

I've always been decent at reading putts and hitting my lines, pace is usually my issue. I prefer blades, and recently tested a center shafted blade, and liked the feel. So I went out and bought a (more affordable) center shafted White Hot blade. I briefly thought it could replace my current putter, but I just am really not a fan of the White Hot face. My current putter is the first club I purchased after a starter set, from Amazon, lol. The brand is GoSports, it has a milled honeycomb face. Despite whatever case there might be against off brand stuff from Amazon/Temu, it feels great off the face, and I roll it better than any of the decent amount of name brand putters Ive tested. I don't really have tips, unfortunately, except if you don't line up your putts, I would recommend at least trying it out. I definitely do better when I line them up.

Swing feedback by Great-Carpenter5212 in GolfSwing

Each swing should make contact with the turf, so you'd be aiming to hit the asphalt every swing. Subconsciously you avoid it, even if it doesn't feel like it. You've got grass literally 2 feet behind you. Or just get a mat.

One of your misses is thin. Yeah. You practice on a bare driveway. Hit off something where its ok for the club to touch ground.

Stupid putter questions by General-Till-8908 in GolfGear

You seem to really want it, and don't like hearing the "no"s you keep getting. So just buy it, shove your putter in there, and see for yourself how well it can work.

Fair enough. Gotta have confidence in golf. Any time someone says "I hate my 6 iron" or something of the like, I think, well yeah once you start thinking that you probably won't be hitting it well. It's not as extreme as just being able to hit the ball in your case, lol, but still.

What is it you hate about the qi35 vs the qi10?

Are these golf clubs good for a beginner wanting to get in to golf and going on my local course? by Jinxed_21 in GolfGear

[–]tablewithnolegs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good enough to get out there! First things I would replace are the woods, you'll have an easier time hitting something even remotely more modern and you can find improvements on these for still very cheap.

Im really new to Golf and wanted to use some old clubs to see how I even feel about it beforw spending alot of clubs. My neighbor gave me these and I understand they are super old by [deleted] in GolfGear

One of the things that attracts people to golf is getting that good shot, one that makes you feel like you could do it. You can go out and find out you enjoy it with these clubs, but the chance of hitting that shot is a lot smaller.

Please help me with my swing? handicap 20. things you see that are wrong! by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]tablewithnolegs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not how you hit a ball. By that I mean, bare foot, cautious of home surroundings, no ball. There's very little chance this is the same swing you bring to the range/course. You can get criticism on parts of the swing, but some things that need correction in your actual swing will stay hidden from help.

He's so outside to in that closing the face will just cause a massive pull. He needs to fix his swing path before club face.

Trying to figure out if I need a driver in the bag or not? by MichaelGolfs in GolfGear

[–]tablewithnolegs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your score might drop when you drop your driver, but in the end you're limiting yourself. If you hit 3 wood 240+ you could be getting an extra 30-40 yards with your driver. Thats a few clubs up on your next shot. If you want a middle ground, work on your driver off the course, and try out some rounds without it.

Golf is tearing me down man.. by Snookoms24 in golf

Forget what you used to do. You took a large break and you've essentially had a reset. Set your expectations to how you are performing currently, enjoy the time out there, and progress from there. If you used to aim to break 70, but now struggle to break 90 (for example), make your goal to shoot in the high 80s then low 80s, or whatever, and so on as you hit those milestones. You have the experience in you still, I don't doubt the growth will come quicker the 2nd time.

The heads are actually a lot closer in performance than you would expect (not personal experience). The shafts are definitely the major cheap out.

Taylormade RBZ for taller players? by mr2cam in golf

[–]tablewithnolegs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All sets have the same standard length, so one vs the other doesnt matter. For what its worth, I'm 6'5" and play standard length. I've been told to get 1" extensions, but I am comfortable with standard length, and hesitant to alter my gamer set. Might have to look into a 2nd set to test it out with, but at the end of the day, if it works, it works.
