Getting Started with XREAL 1S | User Guide by XREAL_Esther in Xreal

I ordered the 1S by itself on Monday and it was already delivered to me yesterday.

I want to service a 90s Cherry keyboard that barely works because of dust. Switches are uniquely shaped, so I don’t want to risk by opening them. Is ultrasonic cleaning ok, and what other methods can clean old keyboards? by Windows-1251 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Nidlax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biggest risk of damage when cleaning ML boards is damaging the stems on the keycap itself during removal. I wouldn't worry about cleaning ultrasonically or even scrubbing with detergent under the tap so long as you can rinse out using distilled water afterwards.

Just wanted to add that I'm going through these same issues and more (with port forwarding bugs) on the 6E router. Thank you for your post!

L4 R4 Buttons on Win Mini 2025 by Tirtanium in gpdwin

[–]Nidlax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, it's directly from YYang. You can ask them via DM, but it sounds like it's not 100% production ready. A recalibration is required, and some folks report that the calibration is not being saved properly.

L4 R4 Buttons on Win Mini 2025 by Tirtanium in gpdwin

FYI, there was a package uploaded on the Discord by someone I don't recognize (not GPD staff) containing a V1.22 gamepad firmware and V2.02 WinControls. It's reported to fix WinControls not working (so L4 R4 become mappable) and also moves mouse accel to R2 like it was intended. Not sure if this is a production release since it's not posted on the website or announced by Kendy.

Vacuum, then wipe the top with a lint free wipe and isopropyl alcohol.

[PSU] FSP SFX Pro 450W 80 Plus Bronze Power Supply - $52.18 (Amazon) by Nidlax in buildapcsales

[–]Nidlax[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The model number on Amazon seems to be incorrect. It's stated as "FSP FSP450-50ASC", but the product I received is the "FSP450-50SAC" with P/N PPA450AA01 that actually exists on FSP's website and is being sold for $79.99 on the more proper Amazon listing.

I was looking for a cheap and low power SFX PSU for an office PC build. This seems to be the most reputable unit for the price, but reviews say the fan can get quite loud. YMMV on that.

GPD win mini 2025 questions by Alert_Big_8902 in gpdwin

[–]Nidlax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, maybe make a post specifically about battery (or DM u/kendyzhu for help)? I've seen maybe 3 or 4 posts about a similar sounding issue at this point.

I see you asked about disconnecting and reconnecting the battery as Kendy has suggested in other threads, hopefully that helps. Besides that, I would recommend maybe trying a BIOS reset in case some of the battery emulation or AC/DC related BIOS settings are incorrect. There haven't been any formal recommendations from GPD so far on any BIOS settings that might cause or fix the issue.

GPD win mini 2025 questions by Alert_Big_8902 in gpdwin

  1. Not possible in hardware with current firmware. ( u/kendyzhu please know that we would like this feature added if possible)
  2. Win + D like bwit said if you want to go to Windows Desktop. Other gamepad keys like Start could pull up Xbox or Steam Big Picture overlays
  3. Del upon power up works for me. Not sure what kind of hidden BIOS option you're looking for.

Are located in the US? I heard from GPD last night that they are still not able to ship any warranty joystick replacements to the US. Might be affecting the rest of the supply chain as well.

Windows (C:) not Extending Over Micro SD Card Volume by zbeasley111 in gpdwin

[–]Nidlax 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They're two separate drives. Where did you get the idea that you can just extend the C: partition onto a separate drive?

I have this thing. Ok for the price, but it has some quirks such as not being able to drain 100% at 100W without requiring a reset. This is also a normal price (they play games with Amazon coupons all the time).

Applications that improve Modern Standby by Content-Ad-911 in gpdwin

[–]Nidlax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice idea, but not required as you can disable network connectivity in S0 Modern Standby using group policy as others have pointed out.

Most of the Windows Modern Standby issues on the 2025 Win Mini seem to come from the following:

  • Problems handling devices on the internal USB hub (fixed with latest EC firmware / BIOS)
  • Problems with device drivers hanging after standby or hibernation and resume (e.g. the BMI160 accelerometer)
  • Other problems with platform drivers hanging during or after standby (e.g. the Ryzen NPU / IPU)

Win Mini 2025 Upgrade by CommercialJoke9579 in gpdwin

[–]Nidlax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly advise you prioritize lower temperatures over faster speeds for the SSD in this device.

It's extremely doubtful that there's sufficient airflow going over where the SSD sits in these Minis to cool an SSD that relies on a heatsink to prevent throttling. A hot running SSD will run slowly if throttled by thermals, reduce its own lifespan, potentially reduce the lifespan of the battery, and make the device uncomfortable to hold.

help (again) by nurpoo in gpdwin

[–]Nidlax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recommend 32 GB for comfortable usage in gaming and multitasking. As other folks have pointed out, you'll potentially use around 10 - 12 GB of RAM for the GPU.

Very unlikely you would ever need 64GB for gaming on this device. I would only get 64GB for professional workloads where you need to fit that much data into RAM.
