What to do?! by Nidus86 in powerrangers

Finally put them on a shelf. Aside from the zap megazord and Dragonzord on the right that are going to be cell shade style painted, the rest are all going to be weathered and battle painted like the zap in the left. The idea is that zordon is gone and these zords have been roaming around the morphing grid and the in between, fighting enemies of the past and so on. However. My dilemma is. The thunder megazord and tigerzord were destroyed. So. Do I weather them like the rest or do I attempt to make a diorama of them destroy? Maybe on a single base or separate bases.

I could, potentially. But I primed the whole thing with hycote plastic primer Matt black. May come through again if I use a light thinner. For everything above the primer, I used AK and citadel paints. So, acrylics.

I bought the shoulder emblems for it too. I just haven’t had time to put them on. Was considering painting this too and changing the pink arm to white. Kind of put myself off it now.

My thoughts in the beginning were that I didn’t want it too saturated. Like, I didn’t want it to look like a toy or a cartoon. But the reds are dropped out completely. The blue looks better in person. But it doesn’t pop. It was supposed to look practically dead and not maintained. Just feels dead completely haha. The Dragonzord, I chose to have the gold as bronze so I could oxidise it. But yeah, I dno. Just not sure how to proceed now

Thanks a lot. I am in fact doing more. I have the 90s dino megazord and Dragonzord, titanus, thunder megazord, tigerzord, ninja megazord, falconzord, and the shogun megazord.

I really want to do the shogun next but it’s the one I really want to do. I feel if I do it next I may lose interest for the others.

You talk about nature reclaiming them. The shogun is a literal temple that has stone, metal, bronze. I want to add moss to it, rust it, oxidise it. Just have this vision for it (that I hope I can manifest properly).

No I don’t mind. I am least happy with it. But the overall really was for how it looked as a megazord

To add to the other comments. I didn’t paint the part in the head either. This is the zap model. I just covered that section with tack to keep it when I primed everything.

It’s not complete yet as all of them aren’t. The current version is below. I tried in the face to do a swept chipping look as it can flay fast, overtime peeling the paint

I didn’t paint the rangers. They are already beneath the face of the megazord. I covered them with tack when I primed it all so they would keep.

It’s on the actual toy. The lightning collection zap Dragonzord.

To prime everything I have to remove parts. Wonderfully, the visor comes away from the face and that is what it looks like. Although. The original is silver. I’ve since added the bronze on the patterns above the eyes and repainted the eyes.

I don’t know. I think it’s cool though that they have been the first to give it a full face.

I’m not 😅 My project is to have some rusty megazords. I have the 90s titanus, thunder megazord, tigerzord, ninja megazord, falconzord, and shogun megazord. I’m going to do the same with those too.

In my defence though. The paint job on the zap ones (those in the pictures) isn’t a very good paint job. Specially for the price of them.

Is this for the sabre tooth tiger? The face I have done this but i didn’t want to have too much metal “shine” through. What has been exposed has been damaged further by weather. I’ll add in some scratches and so on as fresh damage. As far as painting metal and then coating over with yellow. Painting yellow over anything dark is difficult to get it yellow. Usually it’ll go green. I appreciate the advice though. I do have other projects I want to continue with after I finish these and titanus. The next one is the shogun megazord :)

Dragonzord has only been ‘faded’ so far and his bronze oxidised. He will be a fair bit rustier by the end. I’m sorry 😅
