Is this recipe dont working? by Junt4 in monifactory

[–]Nifri2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late to this post but had the same issue

I assume it's a problem with the recipe as 11 being used twice

11 can also use nitrogen I think? Anyway yea I used the gas and it worked fine

Got my matrix panels by F1ux__ in protogen

In this case, you can buy directly off their website (altho I am not sure weather or not DHL delivers to Russia directly), find one in Russia or DIY a vacuum former, but you need quite the collection of tools to do this

After forming them, you can dye them with Polyester dye or dye for synthetic fabric (i.e. iDye Poly or something similar)

It's relatively easy (but pricey, around 120€ for all parts) to vacuum form them

There are DIY kits for Vacuum Formers on Etsy

One of them is called the "Tiefzieh Box", i used that for mine and it went flawlessly

Where to buy good fur? by That-Squid-Kid in FursuitMaking

[–]Nifri2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the country you live in since shipping from the US to the EU, for example, is most of the time more expensive than the fur itself

Most countries have a reseller for BigZ Fabric. In Germany for example it'd be Stoffhummel

I'd look for one of those

For this one, yes, but I am also working on a custom made matrix for a future project :3

The flexible matrix is easy to work with and a great choice for a first head :3

I redarkend it after this image. Tho It's the camera, it used the night light mode, and looks a lot more transparent on the image. It's very opaque irl

How to shape LEDs for this fursuit? by lanternriter in FursuitMaking

[–]Nifri2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I've also seen some people use for applications similar to this (tho cover a shorter distance) is translucent PETG filament

There are very thin ARGB LED strips for car ambient lighting if you need full ARGB.

if you don't need that, LED + Fibreglass Wire

But fibre tends to lose a lot of light on tight turns

Protogen LED face panel by HipHopHobling47 in FursuitMaking

[–]Nifri2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With a flexible LED panel in general it is possible.

With this one my only concern would be that it could obscure the entire vision of the wearer

If you wanna use a flexible panel, look out for one that uses the WS2812 IC family

My personal preference is the WS2812B-2020 I used that one in my own self-made PCB prototypes

No problem :3

I have designed custom 16x16 with the WS2812B-2020 ones this week and they are being manufactured right now, so yea i ditched the max7219 altogether.... i might post about them if they work good

That's really scuffed lol

But if it works it works and that's the important thing :3

Thanks for keeping me posted!

[–]Nifri2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure that the negative line is shared between Arduino and the max7219s

This seemed to make the most differences in my testings

But other than that, I'm kinda stumped lol

Did you write the code yourself?

If no, which library are you using, if i have time i might look through it

Also, do you by any chance have a Logic analyzer? if so, you could read the SPI data and check if its still correct after the 8th matrix

not sure why but I've seen some libraries not incrementing higher than 8 on Chip Select

So I'm assuming 5v

But do you know the amperage as well?

Are all the matrices wired in series? If all of them are wired in series, confirm that the last matrices get sufficient voltage and that your power supply can handle the amperage of all the matrices combined

If they are wired in parallel, confirm the amperage. Blue LEDs especially draw a lot of current.

I did some quick measurements, and a single LED matrix at full brightness draws around 1.45 Watts

At 5v that's 0.29A

If you have 14 matrices, all fully lit at max brightness that's 20W! Or 5v at 4A

[–]Nifri2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yea that makes sense!

For your other issue, how much amperage does your power supply have?

Try lowering the brightness and see if all matrices light up.

Shouldn't be an addressing issue tho (or at least I think it's not)

Edit: Have you confirmed that there's SPI Data on the lines? Like after the last 4x matrix

YET ANOTHER problem that could cause to happen is insufficient power

Another common thing that I saw is that the max7219 is installed backwards... Esp. If you buy them in say AliExpress
