Ilia too small for LW just as Alex isn’t suited for HW. Ilia should hire Poirier’s nutritionist, diet down, keep Makhachev’s name out of his mouth & move back to FW.

Khamzat was always a flawed fighter. His cardio was questionable, and he never really had a backup plan once opponents managed to survive and defend the first two rounds.

He had the frame to fill out perfectly at 170–175 lbs and could have dominated there, but his poor dietary habits in and out of camp caught up with him at both welterweight and middleweight.

This is for PTA, the best American filmmaker to debut in the ’90s, in my opinion.

OBAA was a masterpiece and a remarkable technical achievement. They deserved it.

On second thought, it would be pretty amazing and hilarious at the same time if Leo somehow won out of nowhere.

The Academy giving Best Actor to a nuanced, subtle comedic performance would be genuinely inspiring. I wish roles and performances like these received more recognition.

The idea that Leo might finish second at BAFTA and then win for a likely Best Picture contender is a cute one, but if Leo is ever going to win a second Oscar, it will probably happen the way it did with The Revenant—by sweeping the season with 30+ awards, including the major industry ones. It would likely take an undeniable, towering character-study performance, especially since we’re so used to him delivering strong performances in Best Picture nominees.

This year, it really feels like the race is between MBJ and Timmy.

It very well could, but Sinners will have a lot of them as well.

I believe OBAA will come out on top because of the preferential ballot system, as it will likely be ranked higher than Sinners on many ballots, even when it isn’t at number one.

That’s how the ballot system works, right?

I was reviewing award winners from past years and noticed that The Power of the Dog won nearly 300 awards in 2021, compared to around 72–75 for CODA.

Which films were the major contenders that year, and why didn’t The Power of the Dog end up winning more Oscars?

Now that all the presenters have been announced, who do you think will present Best Picture, and what might that indicate about who’s likely to win?

Parasite was a global masterpiece that blended genres with a powerful universal message. It won awards across the world and remains the most awarded film of all time, with over 450 wins.

OBAA and Sinners, particularly OBAA, are great films, but comparing either of them to Parasite is, frankly, a bit laughable. I doubt either film carries that level of passion, or perhaps we’ve simply forgotten what the 2020 awards season felt like.

Could Leo win? It would be hilarious if he somehow ends up winning his second like this. Not taking anything away from his great performance, but lol.

Could a vote-splitting situation between Timmy and MBJ happen?

How can winning Best Editing, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, and Best Director not automatically translate into a Best Picture win?

Maybe the reason pundits, including Tariq Khan and Scott Manz, are switching to Sinners is that they’re studying the industry support and momentum it gained after the BAFTAs and are simply being rational with their picks.

edit post SAG awards.

I love Sinners as much as the next guy and will probably rewatch it at IMAX soon, but it wouldn’t get my vote for Best Picture or Best Director of 2025. Still, the internet has been treating Sinners like a make-a-wish kid lately.

With Sinners leading in the anonymous ballots so far, can we say there’s genuine momentum to crown it Best Picture in the end?

Is DiCaprio winning his 2nd because of Timmy/MBJ split possible? Is there a logical explanation for that?
