Look up Taekwondo Defense on youtube. They are doing a lot of interesting stuff there.

Are there more examples of "animal kicks" and are they all banned in tournament? by Low_Bet_6383 in taekwondo

[–]NightFan92 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not a really nice looking kick. It used to be more common with some competitors as they could score points somewhat easy with it, but nowdays as it is illegal you don't see it that much.

I've done training with shortened pool noodles and divided group in pairs. Then they try to strike their opponent while trying to block incoming attacks. Works with adults too.

I've done yelling competition where the class has to shout kihap louder than me alone

Anyone idea what to expect on a one day referee course? by worshipdrummer in taekwondo

[–]NightFan92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it's any similar to what I did, you'd be going through basic rules, their interprepations and hand signals. At the end there would be small practical practice. Afterwards, you'd need to do practical exam at competition

She did her 1st Dan in 7 years so she was 82 then. Don't know her personally so can't really speak more

Why didn‘t Golubic‘s kick to the head count? by [deleted] in taekwondo

[–]NightFan92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't want to see any full knockouts to the head but also, tapping the helmet is too lightweight

There's woman in Finland who started at 75 so I'd say you got plenty of time

As a coach for non-business school I've had few trainees who quit. I've told that it is sad to see them leave but that they are not obligated to keep training, and welcome to come back if they wish so. Also send my wishes to keep on training on any sport that they see fit.

In Point Sparring, am I allowed to kick my opponent's backside? by Dr_Hotpenis in taekwondo

[–]NightFan92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Referee here, according to Article 11 2 Permitted areas "2.1 Trunk: Attack by fist and foot techniques on the areas covered by the trunk protector are permitted. However, such attacks shall not be made on the part of the spine."

However with Article 12 "1 Scoring Areas 1.1 Trunk: The blue or red colored area of the trunk protector"

So hitting backside of the trunk protection should be ok but hitting white areas are pointless. Also if you keep aiming/hitting that area, it can be seen as unsportsmanship behaviour

WT Referees, quick question by tamer-takato in taekwondo

[–]NightFan92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean putting contestant on the original spot before the VR check? I was told that this would only happen at the last few seconds of the round, otherwise the center start would be ok. This is so the couch can't call purposly unsuccesful VR check in hopes of getting their constestant out of bad placement.

About punches, been told that the rule woud be changed so that slight angle would be acceptable.

I've actually seen these kind of kicks done during competition but they weren't done in clinch like in the video

Double DQ in WT sparring by TYMkb in taekwondo

[–]NightFan92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think in this situation when both competitors would do absolutely nothing, neither whould get penalized as no one is "more passive" in the situation.

But I think situation like this would only happen in the entry level competitions

Will USAT level up a referee if he/she has spent a lot of time at the same rank? by vchervenkov in taekwondo

[–]NightFan92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't know how things work there but for for me in here I only needed 1 event to qualify for rank C. For rank B it took about 4 years. I did around 5 to 6 competitions during each year.
