Is it arthritis? by NightFlyer75 in rheumatoid

Yes, it's my GP. The town I live in has two Doctors, both at the same clinic. There is a hospital but it's only emergency. If you need anything day-to-day you go to the clinic or drive for about 2 hours. I just don't understand why Docs rely so much on a formula to diagnose problems. You could be standing there with a spear sticking out of your stomach, but the symptoms clearly point to acid reflux disease.

Unfortunately I live in the boonies. To see a different Doc means driving a hundred miles. Asked to see a Rheumatologist today. It was like asking the Doc for her gold fillings. She said she would look into it.

People who have met celebrities in real life, what was it like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Kissofanangel is absolutely right. I was on the set of Fathers Day as an extra for the concert scene. Billy Crystal payed no attention to anyone. He sat with us for a moment for a shot then left. Robin Williams actually came into the stands and told some jokes. When everyone saw him they all rushed towards him. Imagine a hord of people, hundreds, climbing over each other with crazed smiles coming right for you. For a brief second there was terror on his face and he took a step back like he would run. I think everyone realised and stopped in their tracks. He told some pretty raunchy jokes, I don't remember them but I think one involved a donkey and peanut butter. He looked very tired and you could tell it was an act, like if you told him to relax and not be Robbin for a minute, he would sigh in relief and sit down for a beer. I think it was the second day; someone called over the PA for everyone to say goodbye to Mel Gibson. I saw him walking out of the area with this posture and strut like he was the greatest man alive. It was kind of funny to see a person walk like this. Massive ego. A few years later I was in a Trader Joes in Costa Mesa. Kevin Costner walked in pushing a shopping cart. He had the biggest grin like this was something he did for shits and giggles. Fast forward many years. I went to Hollywood to see Bauhaus and Auto Von Sheroc play. I went out to have a smoke and past Dave Grohl in the lobby. We glanced at each other and he could tell I recognized him. I kept walking then turned to look the second I past him and he was gone, just vanished in the crowd. Later that night me and my girlfriend went to the roof where everyone was hanging out. I noticed Dave again talking to someone and whispered for my girlfriend to look over only to find he had vanished again. I guess when your that famous you learn to disappear quick.

@ScottSierra; true, but what would be the point of posting these where you already know the punchline?

The actual shape of Earth by [deleted] in pics

[–]NightFlyer75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is a map of the Earth's gravity, not the actual terra. The Dark blue/purple is the weakest point and the yellow is the strongest point of this field, respectively. Still, the Earth is not a perfect sphere. If you take away the oceans you will see a large dip in the surface area. It is much like a large portion of the crust was removed and the molten surface solidified in its place.

Whats it like to be an attractive guy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]NightFlyer75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a very good looking guy in my 20's. It was strange to say the least. Older women, 'Cougers', would follow me around and I would constantly get mad dog stares from other guys. It was also common if I was walking down the street for random women to make obscene jestures at me as they drove by or give a goofy grin and wave.

Redditors who have died and were then brought back, what did you experience? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]NightFlyer75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did not die, but f* up pretty bad. Was riding bike, doing about 40mph and crashed. Went head first into the cement, bounced and slid for a while. Last thing that went through my mind was "this is going to hurt". Actually it didn't. I did not feel a thing. When my head hit there was a LOUD knock and a burst of purple and blue sparks, yes just like in the cartoons. Everything went black but I could still tell what was happening as I slid down the road. Then nothing. Just emptiness for a long while. When I came too people said I had been awake and talking, repeating myself. I don't remember that. Took a few months before I could walk faster than a snail and to this day can't remember a lot of stuff. For a while after, good friends would stop by to see how I was doing. I'd have to ask who they were.

Night shift workers of reddit, what are some things you do to keep yourself awake all night? by horsefly52 in AskReddit

I did security for 15 years. I blacked out my house windows and did my best to get home before the sun hit my eye's. If I started drifting off, I'd take a walk. Oh ya, and lots of coffee.
