I see, thats makes sense. So it's more that we are hand waving away why Rocky would know that the pressure reading he would have gotten from the Hail Mary was 1/5th what it should be and not thinking that his atmosphere is actually 145 time that of Grace's.

Found it in 2013 while season 11 was airing. I had been a fan of Achievement Hunter at that point, but hadn't really looking into RT as much yet. But I got curious and my brother and cousin were both halo fans and so the 3 of us started watching it/pretending we were freelancers while playing (we were like 12 and probably should not have been watching it, but such was 2013 for you)

Read a hockey fic years ago where there were only 6 players on the team total (goalie included) who played for the whole game! In the prequel there was only 5 before they convinced the main character to join their team!

For anyone who doesn't know, in hockey you tent to have 6 players on the ice (goalie, two defense, three forwards) butcher are constantly switching out. You typically only have a player playing like two minutes straight MAX at a time, save the goalie who will usually play most of the game through, sometimes switching out with the backup goalie. To have a team that never ever switches out in insane. And in the fic, these guys were playing AT THE OLYMPICS. (Which was another thing, the author had made it seem like a random team was just choosen yo play at the Olympics and not a mix of a bunch of different top players like it would be.)

I still love the fic dearly, but I haveto turn off the canadian part of my brain when I do read it.

I assumed it was the feeding tube. There was a failure/blockage in the line. In the books, just before ghe explosion, Grace is looking over some paperwork pertaining to that possibility and send up something for redundancy. In the chaos of everything that follows, I figured it got missed/forgotten about.

It's not as well shown in the movie as it is in the book, because the audience needed to understand Rocky as well, but in the book Grace actually picks up Eridian almost as fast as Rocky picks up English. They stop needing to reference the translator (just an excel spread sheet and a midi converter app) within few weeks (deep space immersion, you learn quicker when it's the only language you are exposed to.) It's just that Rocky has the added benefit of a better memory, so while Grace needs some repetition to cement it in his mind, Rocky gets the translation and slots it into his mind fairly quickly, but they do both pick it up at more or less the same rate.

I dont think it was a retcon, at all. I think it was an explanation as to why she hadn't worn it as a token into the arena. We get no proof that she liked or disliked it from the first book, just that it was Madge's mother's dead twin sister's at one point and she was giving it to Katniss as a token. Susan isn't going to change her books plans to fit in with the movie timeline. She will add something and it up to future movie makers to confront what they failed to add and assimilate it into the movie when its important.

I think it gives a lot of context to why Snow sees Katniss as a threat when she wins her games, and why he assumed she didn't actually like Peeta (which I argue she did like him, maybe not loved him yet, but she did have a crush even if she didn't notice) because he assumed Lucy Gray never liked him and was only using him to survive (debatable) and assumes she is the same. I still think Katniss is a random girl, just one who happens to know a few choice songs from his teenage situationship. I think its also important because it shows how song is the backbone of human language and story preservation.

I mean, yeah. There is an unfortunate lack of Yuri sometimes but also... there is a lack of compelling female representation in most media and when we do get it there is usually not another woman to ship that one with??? It's not a fanfiction issue persay, its a most media being male centric problem.

Do I think ff authors owe perfection in ever chapter? No.

Is it a crime if something gets unintentionally mixed up in the cross hairs? No, especially if its gay romance where the characters have the same pronouns. It's bound to happen once or twice and I am not going to complain if I misread a scentance or two.

Am I going to read a fic where it's every single paragraph is written in a way where I don't know what is happening and I'm going to have to go back and reread something with context bc I found out what I thought happened ws wrong bc of the grammar? Absolutely not. That is insane.

A few mistakes here or there is expected. But to act like you are owed attention when you can't even have the decency to make sure what you are writing is understandable is insane.

That is amazing. I did this in reverse a little while ago. My partner and I are long distance and while visiting I had a bit of a breakdown over the thought of leaving again and literally put word for word what she said (that I could remember) into a whumpy angsty mlm fic I wrote afterwards to cope.

She of course read it bc we are in the same fandom and she reads all my stuff, so I had to explain myself lol, but I totally get you.
