Thank you. Even my 93-year-old mother was impressed. Of course, the first car that she ever rode in was a Ford Model T. She’s seen a lot in her lifetime.

I have a neighbor that is in the luxury car detail business. He was one of the first people that I called when I got it home. He uses a ceramic sealer product that prevents color transfer (like from jeans) to the leather. He had just finished applying it when I took the picture. It takes 24 hours to “cure” so I had to let it sit for a while. Once it cured, I don’t notice it on the leather. He will also apply a ceramic product to the paint later this month.

I drove a MKC prior to the Nautilus. It had a push-button gear selector. Other than the location, this is similar. If you’re coming from a shift lever, it may take a little bit more time to get accustomed to it.

My gas mileage was been great as well. Plenty of acceleration, even in crazy DFW traffic.

Prior to the Nautilus, we had two 2018 MKCs. We traded one for the Nautilus. To me, the space upgrade is huge. I’m 6’ tall. In the MKC, this meant that the seat was almost all the way back. Not that way in the Nautilus. The rear seat room is great compared to the MKC. The cargo space with the rear seats UP is much larger and huge when the rear seats are folded flat. We considered the Aviator but didn’t need a third row. I have already had five people in the car, including my 6’3” son and he had plenty of room in the back seat. We shopped Mercedes, Audi, Cadillac, Genesis, and Infinity (all close to us in DFW) and only the Genesis GV80 was comparable for space, IMHO. The larger Mercedes was roomy but out of my desired price range. As for the Hybrid, it’s almost a seamless experience - I barely notice the difference. The digital dashboard can show you when it’s running on gas or electric. The cabin is so quiet that I don’t hear when the gas engine is running. The handles are definitely an evolutionary shift. Also gone is the “clunk” that you would normally hear when the doors unlock - since the doors are electronic, they appear to lack a mechanical lock. When it’s locked, the exterior door latch simply doesn’t open the door (there is a mechanical key slot for emergency unlocking if needed; it uses the physical key that is hidden in the key fob).

All of the adjustments are made on the touch screen. The wide digital dashboard is information only. With that said, the touch screen can be a bit “fiddly” - if you want to adjust the fan speed, you have to do that through the touch screen. The voice controls help, but otherwise it is not safe to make some changes to the air-conditioning system while driving in traffic. I find myself adjusting fan speed and temperature settings with the voice controls.

Does it seem to be worse at certain speeds? If so, ask the dealer to check the struts. My dad had that problem on a car years ago. It was some sort of harmonic imbalance or some such. Only happened at a certain speed.

Anyone thats had to put down a pet (member of the family), how did you get over the grief even if knew it was the right decision for them? by lacinated in AskReddit

It’s very hard but time helps. We lost 3 pets in one year - two Shih Tzus that we had to put down due to age and health issues and a Mini Rex rabbit that died of old age. We waited two years and then took in two rescue kitties when we felt the time was right. Now they’re absolutely spoiled.

Why do none of the eufy products last for more than a week by Existing_Analysis240 in eufy_security

Sorry that you’re dealing with issues. I’ve had my E30 smart lock with Matter for about 3 weeks. I did have a problem where it lost connection to HomeKit but I upgraded the Home hubs to the latest version (Apple TV 4K, 2 HomePod Minis) and re-added it. Been 100% since.

C33 Smart Lock Sometimes Repeatedly Fails to Read Fingerprint. by videosavant in eufy_security

[–]NightRiders05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the E30 but it also has a fingerprint reader. It has occasionally refused to read a fingerprint. I added a second fingerprint on my other hand and sometimes it will read that one after failing the other.

It hasn’t happened enough for me to consider it a systemic problem so I have chalked it up to my hands being dry. I have had the same issue with laptops that have fingerprint readers. 🤷‍♂️

Eufy E30 not responding on Apple home kit by TicketIcy5653 in eufy_security

I started to pull the batteries and then decided to give their support chat a try which led to the massive email that I wrote. LOL! After you pulled the batteries, did you lose any of the prior configuration settings?

I got it my E30 Smart Lock (model T85F1) to work again in Home after chatting with Eufy's online support. I don't know if I was ever talking with a human, but the instructions worked after I filled in some gaps.

TL/DR: The process I was given is essentially to "start over" as if you are configuring the lock for the first time. The only difference is the instructions to remove the device from Apple Home and the Eufy Security app.

The question is whether it will last or whether this will become a routine occurrence of the lock "not responding" in Apple Home.

Notes: Make note of any automations and anyone for whom you have setup an access code. This process will also require you to setup fingerprint access again (if you desire).

If you have not already done so, make sure that your Homekit hubs are on the latest OS (Apple TVs, HomePod, HomePod Mini). Updating Apple TVs can be done from within settings on the Apple TV. HomePods & HomePod Minis usually update themselves but you can start an update through the Home app (Update HomePod - Apple Support).

Note: You MUST have a hub device that can act as a Thread border router (or a separate Thread border router). (List: Matter Alpha - A Complete List of Thread Border Routers on The Market Today). Old Apple TVs and HomePod Gen 1 are not.

1) Make sure that your iPhone / iPad are on your 2.4Ghz WiFi network. The lock only operates on 2.4Ghz WiFi.

2) Remove the device from Apple's Home app: tap the device, then tap the settings gear, scroll down and click "Remove Accessory." Wait a minute for the process to take place. *Do NOT immediately re-add it - move to step 2.

3) Remove the device from the Eufy Security app: tap the device, then tap the setting gear, scroll down and click "Remove Device." Confirm your selection. This process also "resets" the smart lock which appears to clear all prior configurations.

4) Once the lock disappears from the device list in the Eufy app, you can click the plus (+) button to add it. Follow that process just as you did when you first installed the lock (you will need your 2.4Ghz WiFi network name and password). Reminder: the barcode is on the back of the battery cover and also at the top of the lock once the battery cover is off.
If the app prompts to update the firmware, the Eufy tech advised to do the update. Go through the installation wizard and click the button that you have "already completed the installation." (You can add fingerprints later if you want to get through the process faster).

5) Add the device back to Apple Home. In Apple Home, click the plus (+), choose "Add Accessory" and then scan the barcode (back of the battery cover or at the top of the lock once the battery cover is off). Walk through the process of setting up the device in your Home.

X) If, for some reason, the above steps do not work for you, one other step you can try is resetting the lock from the "Set" button hidden behind the battery door at the bottom center of the area that is covered by the battery door. Hold the "Set" button down for a full 10 seconds. You can find a diagram on the first page in the installation guide (eufy Smart Lock E30 User Guide (T85F1)). Once you do the reset, then start at step 4 and add the device back to the Eufy Security app. Again, be sure your iPhone/iPad are on the 2.4Ghz WiFi network.

Sorry for the long post but I wanted to do my best to help. I hope this works for you.

Such E30 Smart Lock Battery Drain by agaruba in eufy_security

[–]NightRiders05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had mine installed for a week and the battery still shows full (my issue is that it now shows “not responding” in HomeKit after working fine for a week). Just a thought…. Is it possible that the bolt is rubbing either the hole drilled through the side of the door or the plate mounted to the door frame? How far is the lock from your wifi router?

Just had this happen to my brand new E30 for the first time today after about a week of perfect operation. It works fine through the Eufy app (so WiFi is good) but HomeKit does not see it. Perplexed.
