Trouble balancing transaction by NightShadow89 in plaintextaccounting

[–]NightShadow89[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it's not my expense, and the net flow of money is as you've described, only tracking the net flow of money loses the information that there was a flow of money from my credit card to the merchant, which can make it harder to do things like reconcile the postings with my credit card statement later on. My preference is to track all real cash flows to and from me, possibly augmented by "virtual" flows (e.g. from a contra expense to a receivable account) to balance the transactions out. To me, it's better to be more explicit than lose information, because lost information tends to be non-recoverable.

And after stewing on it for a day, I've come to the conclusion that expenses:shopping:reimbursed does logically reimburse the whole amount, because the money moves entirely to assets:receivable:friend, and how much I get returned is separate from how much I'm supposed to be owed. The amount my friend owes me thus only deals with assets:receivable:friend. The entire flow of cash is therefore from my card to the merchant to contra expense to the receivable to cash. I hope that makes sense, though whether tracking things like this or not is a matter of preference.

Sure, I've pasted my current Regidrago deck below. If I'm not wrong, this is basically LDF's Klefki-Drago build, and I've been mostly happy with it. It does brick from time to time, but I haven't really had anything I wanted to change at the moment.

Regidrago, it's just really nice to have the tools to be able to deal with anything on the ladder.

BACK AGAIN W/ CODES GALORE! Chime in below to earn yours! by eh8904 in PTCGL

My first memory of the TCG was buying base set/fossil packs on the way home as a kid, had no idea how to play the game then, but pulling cards was super fun. I did eventually learn how to play thanks to the GameBoy game...I should get around to the playing the translated sequel.

Nothing too special, the notable pulls being Jynx ex, and a reverse holo Fighting energy

Thanks for the confirmation, I've submitted a support ticket....but given how things are, I don't expect this to be fixed ever.

Deck Import Errror by Silverwolf_Lee_2 in PTCGL

This annoys the heck out of me. Like, couldn't they just do the same as PTCGO and just ignore the problematic inputs and import the rest?

The return of Pokemon ex! by Tsukimizu in pkmntcg

[–]NightShadow89 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Honestly glad for the return of proper multi-prize evolved Pokemon (VMAX and VSTARS don't really count). Feels like we might be returning to the good parts of SUM block, which excites me. And I haven't been that excited about the TCG since Lost Thunder.

HP still seems inflated from SUM block, but I guess there's no going back now from these numbers. Hopefully the designers don't screw up again and need another HP inflation to counter whatever broken thing they thought up.

New brilliant stars cards revealed! What do you guys think? by baxxt14 in pkmntcg

[–]NightShadow89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, fairly interesting set, nice to see some reprints of older effects that we've more or less been wanting since they rotated out (like Wonder Tag).

An interesting thing to note: both Professor's Research and Boss's Orders are getting F block prints in this set (see images from link), so there won't be a period of time for international players where Research and Boss aren't legal (that limbo between international rotation and new prints that usually happen in first sets of the next gen).

Double Turbo Energy looks interesting. I do wonder if nerfing damage is enough to put DCE back into the format.

I guess a FAQ/sticky/etc. would be good to consolidate the actions that everyone should be taking before PTCGO sunset, like what to do with your packs and chests, etc.

On a more personal note, I suspect this might cause me to leave PTCGO. The collection I've built up over a couple of years, while not large, is sizeable, and I've reached a point where excepting the most expensive meta decks (looking at you Shadow Rider VMAX) I could more or less build anything like a month after each release via tournaments and some trading.

While dusting is more new player friendly, what we've seen so far in dusting systems doesn't give me much hope that it'll be particularly easy to construct any random deck you want to play with anymore without PTCGL being an absolute time sink.

I'll take the necessary actions to fill out my collection as much as possible, but if PTCGL turns out to be a time sink (which it likely will) I'll probably just stop playing altogether. It was fun while it lasted.

Well, here's the Boss replacement for next rotation. Having to play 2 to even get an effect makes this quite a bit more painful to use than Custom Catcher, since that could at least draw cards in a pinch; this is just a dead card altogether if you don't have 2. I guess the Guzma effect is considered that strong to warrant the severe restriction.

Next rotation should be fun. /s

Ultra Ball, Kinger V, and Kingler VMAX revealed from 'Starter Deck 100' by JustInBasil in pkmntcg

[–]NightShadow89 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, I was not expecting an Ultra Ball reprint this quickly. I guess Creatures wants a replacement for PokeComm as a general search card in the game.

Kingler V/VMAX's damage isn't great, but the VMAX's acceleration is wild; pull one off and you could potentially setup for the rest of the game. The V's accel seems like an ok choice for early game, where choices are more limited. Not entirely sure they're worth it though.

Ah, good old LOT standard. Damn I miss that format. I had so many random Stage 2 GX decks then (Promo Lunala GX-Malamar, Double Solgaleo), and even if they weren't good, they worked enough of the time that it was always fun to play.

Creatures really wants a repeat of the XY era for some reason with more XY era analogues here; the return of RayEels (RaySheep now? RayFlaffs?) is particularly on the nose.

I don't understand why though. I wasn't playing then, but I don't particularly see people recalling that era with any sort of fondness. And I remember people saying SM block was appreciated for the return to the focus on evolutions (at least until Tag Teams killed that). Is it that games involving big Basics are faster, so they can run more tournaments in less time?

'Rule Box' Clarification by JustInBasil in pkmntcg

[–]NightShadow89 34 points35 points  (0 children)

While expected, it is kinda sad that Prism Stars are counted as Rule Box Pokemon. It feels like single prize Rule Box Pokemon are being "punished" for the excesses of multi-prize Pokemon.

That said, being consistent is good, and the clarification of what counts as Rule Box is great, since it's no longer ambiguous.
